When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?”“ Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,” Elisha replied.

After they had gone across, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Tell me. What can I do for you before I’m taken away from you?”“ Please give me a double share of your spirit,” Elisha replied.

When they came to the other side, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Tell me what I can do for you before I am taken away.” And Elisha replied,“ Please let me inherit a double share of your spirit and become your successor.”

When they had crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Tell me what I can do for you before I am taken from you.” So Elisha answered,“ Please, let me inherit two shares of your spirit.”

When they had crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Ask me what I should do for you before I am taken from you.” And Elisha said,“ Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”

When they had gone over, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you.” Elisha said,“ Please let a double portion of your spirit be on me.”

but he shall acknowledge the firstborn, the son of the unloved, by giving him a double portion of all that he has, for he is the firstfruits of his strength. The right of the firstborn is his.

And I will come down and talk with you there. And I will take some of the Spirit that is on you and put it on them, and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, so that you may not bear it yourself alone.

Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching.

Then the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke to him, and took some of the Spirit that was on him and put it on the seventy elders. And as soon as the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied. But they did not continue doing it.

And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him. So the people of Israel obeyed him and did as the Lord had commanded Moses.

Give the king your justice, O God, and your righteousness to the royal son!

Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.

Then they laid their hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit.

Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?”

O Lord God, let your word to David my father be now fulfilled, for you have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth.Give me now wisdom and knowledge to go out and come in before this people, for who can govern this people of yours, which is so great?”

And now, behold, I know that none of you among whom I have gone about proclaiming the kingdom will see my face again.Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all,for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock;and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them.Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years I did not cease night or day to admonish everyone with tears.And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.I coveted no one’s silver or gold or apparel.You yourselves know that these hands ministered to my necessities and to those who were with me.In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said,‘ It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”And when he had said these things, he knelt down and prayed with them all.

O Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep forever such purposes and thoughts in the hearts of your people, and direct their hearts toward you.Grant to Solomon my son a whole heart that he may keep your commandments, your testimonies, and your statutes, performing all, and that he may build the palace for which I have made provision.”

Return to your stronghold, O prisoners of hope; today I declare that I will restore to you double.

But earnestly desire the higher gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way.

I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours.All mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them.And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one.While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

On that day the Lord will protect the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the feeblest among them on that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, like the angel of the Lord, going before them.

Now when Elisha had fallen sick with the illness of which he was to die, Joash king of Israel went down to him and wept before him, crying,“ My father, my father! The chariots of Israel and its horsemen!”And Elisha said to him,“ Take a bow and arrows.” So he took a bow and arrows.Then he said to the king of Israel,“ Draw the bow,” and he drew it. And Elisha laid his hands on the king’s hands.And he said,“ Open the window eastward,” and he opened it. Then Elisha said,“ Shoot,” and he shot. And he said,“ The Lord’s arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Syria! For you shall fight the Syrians in Aphek until you have made an end of them.”And he said,“ Take the arrows,” and he took them. And he said to the king of Israel,“ Strike the ground with them.” And he struck three times and stopped.Then the man of God was angry with him and said,“ You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck down Syria until you had made an end of it, but now you will strike down Syria only three times.”

Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures,and said to them,“ Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead,and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.You are witnesses of these things.And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”And he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them.While he blessed them, he parted from them and was carried up into heaven.

The prayers of David, the son of Jesse, are ended.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

“ Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregationwho shall go out before them and come in before them, who shall lead them out and bring them in, that the congregation of the Lord may not be as sheep that have no shepherd.”So the Lord said to Moses,“ Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him.Make him stand before Eleazar the priest and all the congregation, and you shall commission him in their sight.You shall invest him with some of your authority, that all the congregation of the people of Israel may obey.And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before the Lord. At his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he and all the people of Israel with him, the whole congregation.”And Moses did as the Lord commanded him. He took Joshua and made him stand before Eleazar the priest and the whole congregation,and he laid his hands on him and commissioned him as the Lord directed through Moses.

“ Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
