When the members of the prophetic guild in Jericho, who were standing at a distance, saw him do this, they said,“ The spirit that energized Elijah rests upon Elisha.” They went to meet him and bowed down to the ground before him.

The company of the prophets from Jericho, who were watching, said,“ The spirit of Elijah is resting on Elisha.” And they went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him.

The group of prophets from Jericho were watching. They said,“ The spirit of Elijah has been given to Elisha.” They went over to Elisha. They bowed down to him with their faces toward the ground.

Now when the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho saw him opposite them, they said,“ The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” And they came to meet him and bowed to the ground before him.

When the group of prophets from Jericho saw from a distance what happened, they exclaimed,“ Elijah’s spirit rests upon Elisha!” And they went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him.

When the sons of the prophets from Jericho who were observing saw him, they said,“ The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” They came to meet him and bowed down to the ground in front of him.

Now when the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho opposite him saw him, they said,“ The spirit of Elijah has settled on Elisha.” And they came to meet him and bowed down to the ground before him.

Now when the sons of the prophets who were from Jericho saw him, they said,“ The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” And they came to meet him, and bowed to the ground before him.

And when the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho over against him saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

When the sons of the prophets from Jericho who were facing him saw him, they said,“ The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” They came to meet him and bowed down to the ground in front of him.

And when the sons of the prophets which[ were] to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

When the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho facing him saw him, they said,“ The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” They came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

When the Advocate comes, whom I will send you from the Father– the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father– he will testify about me,and you also will testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.

“ As for me, this is my promise to them,” says the LORD.“ My spirit, who is upon you, and my words, which I have placed in your mouth, will not depart from your mouth or from the mouths of your children and descendants from this time forward,” says the LORD.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the farthest parts of the earth.”

Now a wife of one of the prophets appealed to Elisha for help, saying,“ Your servant, my husband is dead. You know that your servant was a loyal follower of the LORD. Now the creditor is coming to take away my two boys to be his servants.”Elisha said to her,“ What can I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” She answered,“ Your servant has nothing in the house except a small jar of olive oil.”He said,“ Go and ask all your neighbors for empty containers. Get as many as you can.Go and close the door behind you and your sons. Pour the olive oil into all the containers; set aside each one when you have filled it.”

She came in, fell at his feet, and bowed down. Then she picked up her son and left.

The fifty members of the prophetic guild went and stood opposite them at a distance, while Elijah and Elisha stood by the Jordan.

Some of the prophets said to Elisha,“ Look, the place where we meet with you is too cramped for us.Let’s go to the Jordan. Each of us will get a log from there and we will build a meeting place for ourselves there.” He said,“ Go.”One of them said,“ Please come along with your servants.” He replied,“ All right, I’ll come.”So he went with them. When they arrived at the Jordan, they started cutting down trees.As one of them was felling a log, the ax head dropped into the water. He shouted,“ Oh no, my master! It was borrowed!”The prophet asked,“ Where did it drop in?” When he showed him the spot, Elisha cut off a branch, threw it in at that spot, and made the ax head float.He said,“ Lift it out.” So he reached out his hand and grabbed it.

If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory, who is the Spirit of God, rests on you.

The LORD’s spirit will rest on him– a spirit that gives extraordinary wisdom, a spirit that provides the ability to execute plans, a spirit that produces absolute loyalty to the LORD.

The LORD told Joshua,“ This very day I will begin to honor you before all Israel so they will know that I am with you just as I was with Moses.

Then you must delegate some of your authority to him, so that the whole community of the Israelites will be obedient.

But he said to me,“ My grace is enough for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” So then, I will boast most gladly about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may reside in me.

And the LORD came down in the cloud and spoke to them, and he took some of the Spirit that was on Moses and put it on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but did not do so again.But two men remained in the camp; one’s name was Eldad, and the other’s name was Medad. And the spirit rested on them.( Now they were among those in the registration, but had not gone to the tabernacle.) So they prophesied in the camp.And a young man ran and told Moses,“ Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp!”Joshua son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his choice young men, said,“ My lord Moses, stop them!”Moses said to him,“ Are you jealous for me? I wish that all the LORD’s people were prophets, that the LORD would put his Spirit on them!”

That day the LORD brought honor to Joshua before all Israel. They respected him all his life, just as they had respected Moses.

The men of the city said to Elisha,“ Look, the city has a good location, as our master can see. But the water is bad and the land doesn’t produce crops.”
