拉伯沙基说：“你们去告诉希西家说，亚述大王如此说：‘你所倚靠的有什么可仗赖的呢？

亚述王曾如黎巴嫩中的香柏树，枝条荣美，影密如林，极其高大，树尖插入云中。众水使它生长；深水使它长大。所栽之地有江河围流，汊出的水道延到田野诸树。所以它高大超过田野诸树；发旺的时候，枝子繁多，因得大水之力枝条长长。空中的飞鸟都在枝子上搭窝；田野的走兽都在枝条下生子；所有大国的人民都在它荫下居住。树大条长，成为荣美，因为根在众水之旁。神园中的香柏树不能遮蔽它；松树不及它的枝子；枫树不及它的枝条；神园中的树都没有它荣美。我使它的枝条蕃多，成为荣美，以致神伊甸园中的树都嫉妒它。”所以主耶和华如此说：“因它高大，树尖插入云中，心骄气傲，

因为耶和华至高者是可畏的；他是治理全地的大君王。

说主耶和华如此说：埃及王法老啊，我与你这卧在自己河中的大鱼为敌。你曾说：‘这河是我的，是我为自己造的。’

我听见好像群众的声音，众水的声音，大雷的声音，说：“哈利路亚！因为主我们的神、全能者作王了。”

亚述王的臣仆用犹大言语向耶路撒冷城上的民大声呼叫，要惊吓他们，扰乱他们，以便取城。

于是，拉伯沙基站着，用犹大言语大声喊着说：“你们当听亚述大王的话。王如此说：‘你们不要被希西家欺哄了，因他不能拯救你们。也不要听希西家使你们倚靠耶和华说：耶和华必要拯救我们，这城必不交在亚述王的手中。不要听希西家的话，因亚述王如此说：你们要与我和好。出来投降我，各人就可以吃自己葡萄树和无花果树的果子，喝自己井里的水。等我来领你们到一个地方，与你们本地一样，就是有五谷和新酒之地，有粮食和葡萄园之地。你们要谨防，恐怕希西家劝导你们说：耶和华必拯救我们。列国的神有哪一个救他本国脱离亚述王的手呢？
