“‘ Come now, make a bargain with my master, the king of Assyria: I will give you two thousand horses— if you can put riders on them!

耶和華啊，求你憐憫我們，憐憫我們！因為我們受盡了藐視。我們受盡了安逸人的譏誚和驕傲人的藐視。

他對他的弟兄和撒瑪利亞的軍兵說：「這些軟弱的猶太人做甚麼呢？要為自己重建嗎？要獻祭嗎？要一日完工嗎？要使土堆裏火燒過的石頭再有用嗎？」亞捫人多比雅在一旁說：「他們所修造的石牆，就是狐狸上去也必崩裂。」我們的神啊，求你垂聽，因為我們被藐視。求你使他們的毀謗歸於他們自己頭上，使他們在被擄之地成為掠物。不要遮掩他們的罪孽，不要使他們的罪惡從你面前塗去，因為他們在修造的人前面惹你發怒。

現在你與我主亞述王打賭，我給你兩千匹馬，看你能否派得出騎士來騎牠們。若不然，怎能使我主臣僕中最小的一個軍官轉臉而逃呢？你難道要倚靠埃及的戰車和騎兵嗎？

便‧哈達又派人到亞哈那裏，說：「撒瑪利亞的塵土若足夠跟從我的軍兵每人手拿一把，願神明重重懲罰我！」

因為他說：「我所成就的事是靠我手的能力和我的智慧，因為我本有聰明。我挪移列國的地界，搶奪他們所積蓄的財寶，並且像勇士，使坐寶座的降為卑。我的手奪取列國的財寶，好像人奪取鳥窩；我得了全地，好像人拾起被棄的鳥蛋；沒有振動翅膀的，沒有張嘴的，也沒有鳴叫的。」

非利士人觀看，見了大衛，就藐視他，因為他年輕，面色紅潤，容貌俊美。

非利士人又對大衛說：「來吧！我要把你的肉給空中的飛鳥和田野的走獸。」
