當著他的同僚和撒瑪利亞軍兵的面說：「這群弱小的猶太人在做什麼呢？要重建城牆嗎？要獻祭嗎？要在一日之間建好嗎？要用廢墟中燒過的石頭來建造嗎？」他身旁的多比雅說：「他們建的石牆，一隻狐狸上去就能踩倒！」我禱告說：「我們的上帝啊，求你垂聽，因為我們正在被人恥笑。求你使他們對我們的凌辱歸到他們自己頭上，使他們被擄到外邦。不要遮掩他們的惡行，也不要從你面前塗抹他們的罪惡，因為他們在這些建造的人面前惹你發怒。」

來，跟我主人亞述王打個賭，你若能找到兩千騎士，我就給你兩千匹馬！你們即使依靠埃及的戰車和騎兵，又怎能打敗我主人的一個最小的將領呢？

便·哈達又派人去對亞哈說：「若撒瑪利亞的塵土夠我的士兵每人抓一把，願神明重重地懲罰我。」

因為亞述王說：「我靠自己的力量和智慧成就了此事，因為我很聰明。我廢除列國的疆界，擄掠他們的財物，像勇士一樣征服他們的君王。我奪取列國的財物，好像探囊取物；我征服天下，不過是手到擒來；無人反抗，無人吭聲。」

歌利亞見大衛是個面色紅潤、相貌英俊的少年，就藐視他。

又說：「你過來，我要把你的肉丟給天上的飛禽和地上的走獸。」
