来，跟我主人亚述王打个赌，你若能找到两千骑士，我就给你两千匹马！你们即使依靠埃及的战车和骑兵，又怎能打败我主人的一个最小的将领呢？

便·哈达又派人去对亚哈说：“若撒玛利亚的尘土够我的士兵每人抓一把，愿神明重重地惩罚我。”

因为亚述王说：“我靠自己的力量和智慧成就了此事，因为我很聪明。我废除列国的疆界，掳掠他们的财物，像勇士一样征服他们的君王。我夺取列国的财物，好像探囊取物；我征服天下，不过是手到擒来；无人反抗，无人吭声。”

歌利亚见大卫是个面色红润、相貌英俊的少年，就藐视他。

又说：“你过来，我要把你的肉丢给天上的飞禽和地上的走兽。”
