This happened because they had not obeyed the Lord their God, but had violated his covenant— all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded. They neither listened to the commands nor carried them out.

These things happened because the Israelites hadn’t obeyed the Lord their God. They had broken the covenant he had made with them. They had refused to do everything Moses, the servant of the Lord, had commanded. They hadn’t paid any attention to those commands. They hadn’t obeyed them.

耶和華僕摩西既沒、耶和華諭摩西從者、嫩之子約書亞、曰、

爾籲耶和華、而耶和華不復垂念、因爾妄作、棄爾如遺、

爾臣僕諸先知、藉爾之名、告我王公祖父國民之語、我不聽從、主秉公義、惟我儕猶大人耶路撒冷居民、以色列族眾、無論遐邇、因犯罪愆、為爾驅逐、星散於四方、俱當含羞、今日之事為證。我與我王公列祖、獲罪乎主、必當抱愧蒙羞、我主我上帝矜憫為懷、恆加赦宥、我儕違逆、不遵我之上帝耶和華、不從爾臣僕諸先知訓我之律例、我以色列眾犯爾律法、不遵爾命、我既獲罪、故爾僕摩西律例所載之咒詛、臨於我躬、

其時我必震怒、遺棄斯民、不復眷顧、使其並吞於人、多更災患、彼必曰、我不蒙上帝所佑、致遭此禍。

昔以色列族之上帝耶和華、導民出埃及、脫於法老之手、厥後以色列族獲罪於耶和華寅畏他上帝。耶和華驅逐異邦人、所遺之禮儀、民從之、以色列列王所擅立之禮儀、民亦從之、私行非義於其上帝耶和華前、自戍樓以至邑垣、悉建崇坵、高岡之巔茂林之下、立諸偶像、從耶和華所驅之異邦人、在諸崇坵、焚香行諸惡事、干耶和華震怒、犯耶和華禁、役事偶像。耶和華遣其先知先見者、責以色列猶大二族、曰、當棄惡行、守我禁令禮儀、從我所命諸先知、傳爾列祖之律例、斯民弗聽、強項不馴、不信其上帝耶和華、與列祖無異。昔上帝與列祖立約、斯民背之、棄其所命、違其禮儀、崇事虛無、亦為放誕、四周之異邦人、耶和華曾命、勿效其尤、彼不聽從、反崇信焉、棄其上帝耶和華之命、鑄二金犢、樹立木偶、崇拜天象、奉事巴力、焚獻子女、專用卜筮、維惡是務、干耶和華震怒。故耶和華怒以色列族、驅於其前、靡有孑遺、所餘者惟猶大族而已。猶大族亦不守其上帝耶和華之誡命、從以色列族所擅立之禮儀。耶和華棄以色列族苗裔、降以禍災、為人所虜、驅於其前、奪大闢所治之以色列。以色列族既立尼八子耶羅破暗為王、王使以色列族不從耶和華、陷於大罪。以色列族從耶羅破暗所為、恆行惡事、迨耶和華驅之於前、循眾僕先知所言、於是以色列族被虜離斯土、至亞述、迄今尚未歸焉。

時日伊邇、上帝之民且被鞫、若我儕先受審判、則不信上帝福音者、將受何報哉、

愚人犯罪、而罹禍患兮、

既違爾上帝耶和華命、則必見滅、如四方之民、為耶和華所滅然。

如爾及子孫、背逆乎我、不守所命之禮儀禁令、奉事他上帝、

不識上帝、不服吾主耶穌基督福音者、以火爇而譴責之、

惟我僕摩西、盡忠於我家、不示以異象、不見於夢寐、

如是耶和華之僕摩西、沒於摩押、踐耶和華之言、

乃民弗順、違逆乎爾、背爾律例、爾之先知訓迪之、使歸於爾、反為所殺、干爾震怒。故爾使之困於敵國、遭難之時、彼呼籲爾、爾自天俯聽、矜憫靡涯、累賜扶危之士、不為敵所害。

不追念爾所行之異跡、倔強猶昔、背爾立牧、歸於服役之地、乃爾特加赦宥、仁慈矜憫、恆忍施恩、不棄斯民。

以色列族既背我、狥欲而行、我棄之、與以離書、其姊妹猶大族、屢欺侮予、毫無畏葸、狥欲而行、我鑒察之、彼狥欲特甚、崇拜木石、污衊斯邦、厥後佯為歸誠、心不誠慤。○

摩西為執事於上帝家、傳所諭之教、果忠矣、然則基督為子以齊其家、我若毅然歡望、至終鞏固、則可為其家人矣、

我所諭者、及使其敬聽我言、我必為其上帝、彼將為我民、如遵我命、必獲享通。

俱必問曰、耶和華降罰於斯土、何為至於如此、其烈怒之甚、又曷故乎。人必曰、昔導斯民出於埃及、其祖之上帝耶和華與之立約、斯民違其言、從他上帝而崇奉之、然他上帝彼所未識、耶和華亦未嘗姑聽其服事、故震怒斯民、以書所載之咒詛、加乎其身。耶和華怒甚烈、氣甚憤、拔其根株、驅逐於異邦、即以今日之事為證。

使不遵其命、違我所諭之道、從他上帝、汝素未識者、則必遭咒詛。

惟主之僕勿爭競、必慈以處眾、施教則善、受侮則忍、

如爾順從、可食土產、享其嘉物。
