Menahem exacted this money from Israel. Every wealthy person had to contribute fifty shekels of silver to be given to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria withdrew and stayed in the land no longer.

以色列王比加在位的日子，亞述王提革拉．毗列色前來，攻取了以雲、亞伯．伯．瑪迦、亞挪、基低斯、夏瑣、基列、加利利和拿弗他利全地，把居民擄到亞述去。

他的家產有七千隻羊、三千匹駱駝、五百對牛、五百頭母驢，並且有許多僕婢。這人在全東方的人中至為尊貴。

巴西萊年紀非常老邁，已經八十歲。王住在瑪哈念的時候，是他供養王的，因為他是一個很富有的人。

猶大王希西家派人往拉吉去見亞述王說：“我有罪了，請你離我回去吧，你們加於我的處分，我必承當。”於是亞述王罰了猶大王希西家九千公斤銀子和九百公斤金子。希西家就把耶和華殿和王宮寶庫內找到的所有金子都給了他。那時，猶大王希西家把耶和華殿門上和自己包在門柱上的金子，都刮了下來，給了亞述王。亞述王從拉吉派他珥探、拉伯撒利和拉伯沙基率領大軍，往耶路撒冷，到希西家王那裡去。他們就上來，去到耶路撒冷。他們到達以後，就站在上池的引水道旁，在漂布地的大路上。

亞述王撒縵以色上來攻擊他，他就臣服於他，並且向他進貢。後來，亞述王發覺何細亞陰謀反叛：他曾派使者去見埃及王梭，並且不再向亞述王獻上貢物，像過去每年一樣。亞述王就拿住他，把他囚在牢裡。

約雅敬把銀子、金子付給法老；為了應付法老的命令，他向全國徵收稅銀，按著他的評估，向每位國民索取金銀，好付給法老尼哥。
