亞瑪謝做耶和華視為正的事，雖不如他祖先大衛，但事事效法他父親約阿施。

He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but not as his father David had done. In everything he followed the example of his father Joash.

Amaziah did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. But he didn’t do what King David had done. He always followed the example of his father Joash.

And he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, yet not like David his father. He did in all things as Joash his father had done.

Amaziah did what was pleasing in the Lord’s sight, but not like his ancestor David. Instead, he followed the example of his father, Joash.

不要像你們的祖先一樣。以前的先知曾呼喚他們要聽從萬軍之耶和華的話，改邪歸正，停止作惡，他們卻置若罔聞，不予理會。這是耶和華說的。現在你們的祖先在哪裡呢？那些先知能活到永遠嗎？然而，我吩咐我僕人——眾先知的訓言和律例豈不應驗在你們祖先的頭上了嗎？後來他們悔改了，說，萬軍之耶和華按著我們的所作所為報應了我們，正如祂所言。』」

所羅門年老的時候，他的嬪妃誘惑他的心去追隨別的神明。他沒有像他父親大衛那樣忠心順服他的上帝耶和華。

他做耶和華視為正的事，只是沒有全心去做。他鞏固了王位後，立即處死了殺他父王的臣僕，

亞比央和他父親一樣作惡多端，沒有像他祖先大衛一樣忠於他的上帝耶和華。

耶何耶大死後，猶大眾首領來朝拜王，王對他們言聽計從。

要知道，你們從傳統的、沒有意義的生活中被救贖出來，不是靠金銀等會朽壞的東西，

在耶何耶大祭司的教導下，約阿施一生做耶和華視為正的事。

耶和華啊，你是我的力量，是我的堡壘，是我患難時的避難所。萬國都要從地極來朝見你，說：「我們祖先所拜的神像虛假無用，一無是處。

亞瑪謝殺敗以東人後，帶回了他們的神像，立為自己的神明，向它們祭拜燒香。因此，耶和華向亞瑪謝發怒，祂派一個先知去見他，說：「這些神明既然不能從你手中救自己的人民，你為什麼還要祭拜它們呢？」先知的話還沒有說完，王就打斷他，說：「住口！誰立你做王的謀士了？你要自取滅亡嗎？」先知停了一下，又說：「我知道上帝已定意要毀滅你，因為你做了這事，不聽我的忠告。」
