And since the Lord had not said he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam son of Jehoash.

The Lord hadn’t said he would wipe out Israel’s name from the earth. So he saved them by the power of Jeroboam, the son of Jehoash.

But the Lord had not said that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, so he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.

And because the Lord had not said he would blot out the name of Israel completely, he used Jeroboam II, the son of Jehoash, to save them.

耶和華因為與亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各所立的約，就恩待以色列人，憐憫、眷顧他們，至今仍不願滅絕他們，沒有把他們從自己面前趕走。

願他們的名字從生命冊上被抹去，不得和義人的名字列在一起。

得勝者必同樣穿上白袍，我絕不會從生命冊上抹去他的名字，我必在我父和眾天使面前承認他的名。

所以，當你們的上帝耶和華賜給你們那片土地作產業、使你們四境安寧時，要滅絕亞瑪力人，抹去世人對他們的記憶。你們要切記！

不要攔我，我要毀滅他們，從世上抹去他們的名字。我要使你的子孫成為一個比他們更強大的民族。』

乃縵是亞蘭王的元帥，甚得亞蘭王器重，因為耶和華藉他使亞蘭人打了許多勝仗。他是英勇的戰士，只是患了痲瘋病。

耶和華絕不會赦免這樣的人，祂必向這樣的人發烈怒，使記在這書上的一切咒詛臨到他身上，從世上抹去他的名字。

但我們的救主上帝向人彰顯了祂的恩慈和仁愛，藉著重生之洗和聖靈的更新拯救了我們，這並非因為我們有義行，而是因為祂的憐憫。上帝藉著我們的救主耶穌基督把聖靈豐豐富富地澆灌在我們身上。

後來，歌蜜又懷孕生了一個女兒。耶和華對何西阿說：「給她取名叫羅·路哈瑪，因為我將不再憐憫以色列家，也不再赦免他們的罪。但我要憐憫猶大家，使他們依靠他們的上帝耶和華得到拯救，而不是依靠戰弓、刀劍、馬匹、騎兵和戰爭。」

懇求你赦免他們的罪，不然請你從你的冊子上抹掉我的名字吧。」耶和華對摩西說：「誰得罪我，我就從我的冊子上抹掉誰的名字。

上帝並沒有放棄祂預先揀選的子民。你們不知道聖經上有關以利亞先知的記載嗎？他在上帝面前控告以色列人，說：「主啊！他們殘殺你的先知，拆毀你的祭壇，只剩下我一個人，他們還要殺我。」上帝怎樣回答呢？祂說：「我為自己留下七千人，他們未曾跪拜巴力。」現在的情況也是一樣，上帝按照揀選的恩典留下了少數人。既然說是出於恩典，就不再基於行為，不然恩典就不再是恩典了。這該怎麼說呢？以色列人努力追求，卻一無所得，只有蒙揀選的人得到了，其他的人都變得頑固不化。正如聖經上說：「上帝使他們至今心智昏迷，眼睛看不見，耳朵聽不到。」大衛也說：「願他們的宴席成為網羅、陷阱、絆腳石，給他們帶來報應；願他們眼目昏暗，無法看見，永遠彎腰駝背。」那麼，以色列人一失足就再也爬不起來了嗎？當然不是！恰好相反，因他們的過犯，救恩臨到了外族人，使他們心生嫉妒。如果他們的過犯給世界帶來了富足，他們的失敗給外族人帶來了富足，那麼，他們發憤回頭的時候豈不要帶來更大的祝福嗎？
