Joash said to the priests,“ Collect all the money that is brought as sacred offerings to the temple of the Lord— the money collected in the census, the money received from personal vows and the money brought voluntarily to the temple.

Joash spoke to the priests. He said,“ Collect all the money the people bring as sacred offerings to the Lord’ s temple. That includes the money collected when the men who are able to serve in the army are counted. It includes the money received from people who make a special promise to the Lord. It also includes the money people bring to the temple just because they want to.

Jehoash said to the priests,“ All the money of the holy things that is brought into the house of the Lord, the money for which each man is assessed— the money from the assessment of persons— and the money that a man’s heart prompts him to bring into the house of the Lord,

One day King Joash said to the priests,“ Collect all the money brought as a sacred offering to the Lord’s Temple, whether it is a regular assessment, a payment of vows, or a voluntary gift.

Then Joash said to the priests,“ All the dedicated silver brought to the LORD’s temple, census silver, silver from vows, and all silver voluntarily given for the LORD’s temple—

Then Jehoash said to the priests,“ All the money of the sacred offerings which is brought into the house of the Lord, in current money, both the money of each man’s assessment and all the money which anyone’s heart prompts him to bring into the house of the Lord,

And Jehoash said to the priests,“ All the money of the dedicated gifts that are brought into the house of the Lord— each man’s census money, each man’s assessment money— and all the money that a man purposes in his heart to bring into the house of the Lord,

And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the hallowed things that is brought into the house of Jehovah, in current money, the money of the persons for whom each man is rated, and all the money that it cometh into any man’s heart to bring into the house of Jehovah,

Then Joash said to the priests,“ All the dedicated money brought to the Lord’s temple, census money, money from vows, and all money voluntarily given for the Lord’s temple,

And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the dedicated things that is brought into the house of the LORD,[ even] the money of every one that passeth[ the account], the money that every man is set at,[ and] all the money that cometh into any man’s heart to bring into the house of the LORD,

Jehoash said to the priests,“ I place at your disposal all the consecrated silver that has been brought to the LORD’s temple, including the silver collected from the census tax, the silver received from those who have made vows, and all the silver that people have voluntarily contributed to the LORD’s temple.

Jehoash said to the priests,“ All the money of the holy things that is brought into Yahweh’s house, in current money, the money of the people for whom each man is evaluated, and all the money that it comes into any man’s heart to bring into Yahweh’s house,

“ Go up to Hilkiah the high priest and have him get ready the money that has been brought into the temple of the Lord, which the doorkeepers have collected from the people.

From what you have, take an offering for the Lord. Everyone who is willing is to bring to the Lord an offering of gold, silver and bronze;

Besides, in my devotion to the temple of my God I now give my personal treasures of gold and silver for the temple of my God, over and above everything I have provided for this holy temple:three thousand talents of gold( gold of Ophir) and seven thousand talents of refined silver, for the overlaying of the walls of the buildings,for the gold work and the silver work, and for all the work to be done by the craftsmen. Now, who is willing to consecrate themselves to the Lord today?”Then the leaders of families, the officers of the tribes of Israel, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, and the officials in charge of the king’s work gave willingly.They gave toward the work on the temple of God five thousand talents and ten thousand darics of gold, ten thousand talents of silver, eighteen thousand talents of bronze and a hundred thousand talents of iron.Anyone who had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the temple of the Lord in the custody of Jehiel the Gershonite.The people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the Lord. David the king also rejoiced greatly.

All the Israelite men and women who were willing brought to the Lord freewill offerings for all the work the Lord through Moses had commanded them to do.

All who were willing, men and women alike, came and brought gold jewelry of all kinds: brooches, earrings, rings and ornaments. They all presented their gold as a wave offering to the Lord.

“ When you take a census of the Israelites to count them, each one must pay the Lord a ransom for his life at the time he is counted. Then no plague will come on them when you number them.Each one who crosses over to those already counted is to give a half shekel, according to the sanctuary shekel, which weighs twenty gerahs. This half shekel is an offering to the Lord.All who cross over, those twenty years old or more, are to give an offering to the Lord.The rich are not to give more than a half shekel and the poor are not to give less when you make the offering to the Lord to atone for your lives.Receive the atonement money from the Israelites and use it for the service of the tent of meeting. It will be a memorial for the Israelites before the Lord, making atonement for your lives.”

All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”

Then they faithfully brought in the contributions, tithes and dedicated gifts. Konaniah, a Levite, was the overseer in charge of these things, and his brother Shimei was next in rank.

He brought into the temple of God the silver and gold and the articles that he and his father had dedicated.

“ Speak to the Israelites and say to them:‘ If anyone makes a special vow to dedicate a person to the Lord by giving the equivalent value,set the value of a male between the ages of twenty and sixty at fifty shekels of silver, according to the sanctuary shekel;for a female, set her value at thirty shekels;for a person between the ages of five and twenty, set the value of a male at twenty shekels and of a female at ten shekels;for a person between one month and five years, set the value of a male at five shekels of silver and that of a female at three shekels of silver;for a person sixty years old or more, set the value of a male at fifteen shekels and of a female at ten shekels.If anyone making the vow is too poor to pay the specified amount, the person being dedicated is to be presented to the priest, who will set the value according to what the one making the vow can afford.

“ When anyone is unfaithful to the Lord by sinning unintentionally in regard to any of the Lord’s holy things, they are to bring to the Lord as a penalty a ram from the flock, one without defect and of the proper value in silver, according to the sanctuary shekel. It is a guilt offering.They must make restitution for what they have failed to do in regard to the holy things, pay an additional penalty of a fifth of its value and give it all to the priest. The priest will make atonement for them with the ram as a guilt offering, and they will be forgiven.

I know, my God, that you test the heart and are pleased with integrity. All these things I have given willingly and with honest intent. And now I have seen with joy how willingly your people who are here have given to you.

He brought in the priests and the Levites, assembled them in the square on the east sideand said:“ Listen to me, Levites! Consecrate yourselves now and consecrate the temple of the Lord, the God of your ancestors. Remove all defilement from the sanctuary.Our parents were unfaithful; they did evil in the eyes of the Lord our God and forsook him. They turned their faces away from the Lord’s dwelling place and turned their backs on him.They also shut the doors of the portico and put out the lamps. They did not burn incense or present any burnt offerings at the sanctuary to the God of Israel.Therefore, the anger of the Lord has fallen on Judah and Jerusalem; he has made them an object of dread and horror and scorn, as you can see with your own eyes.This is why our fathers have fallen by the sword and why our sons and daughters and our wives are in captivity.Now I intend to make a covenant with the Lord, the God of Israel, so that his fierce anger will turn away from us.My sons, do not be negligent now, for the Lord has chosen you to stand before him and serve him, to minister before him and to burn incense.”

Whatever value the priest then sets, that is what it will be.If the owner wishes to redeem the animal, a fifth must be added to its value.“‘ If anyone dedicates their house as something holy to the Lord, the priest will judge its quality as good or bad. Whatever value the priest then sets, so it will remain.If the one who dedicates their house wishes to redeem it, they must add a fifth to its value, and the house will again become theirs.“‘ If anyone dedicates to the Lord part of their family land, its value is to be set according to the amount of seed required for it— fifty shekels of silver to a homer of barley seed.If they dedicate a field during the Year of Jubilee, the value that has been set remains.But if they dedicate a field after the Jubilee, the priest will determine the value according to the number of years that remain until the next Year of Jubilee, and its set value will be reduced.If the one who dedicates the field wishes to redeem it, they must add a fifth to its value, and the field will again become theirs.If, however, they do not redeem the field, or if they have sold it to someone else, it can never be redeemed.When the field is released in the Jubilee, it will become holy, like a field devoted to the Lord; it will become priestly property.“‘ If anyone dedicates to the Lord a field they have bought, which is not part of their family land,the priest will determine its value up to the Year of Jubilee, and the owner must pay its value on that day as something holy to the Lord.In the Year of Jubilee the field will revert to the person from whom it was bought, the one whose land it was.Every value is to be set according to the sanctuary shekel, twenty gerahs to the shekel.“‘ No one, however, may dedicate the firstborn of an animal, since the firstborn already belongs to the Lord; whether an ox or a sheep, it is the Lord’s.If it is one of the unclean animals, it may be bought back at its set value, adding a fifth of the value to it. If it is not redeemed, it is to be sold at its set value.

He appointed the priests to their duties and encouraged them in the service of the Lord’s temple.

All their neighbors assisted them with articles of silver and gold, with goods and livestock, and with valuable gifts, in addition to all the freewill offerings.

According to their ability they gave to the treasury for this work 61,000 darics of gold, 5,000 minas of silver and 100 priestly garments.

and I weighed out to them the offering of silver and gold and the articles that the king, his advisers, his officials and all Israel present there had donated for the house of our God.I weighed out to them 650 talents of silver, silver articles weighing 100 talents, 100 talents of gold,20 bowls of gold valued at 1,000 darics, and two fine articles of polished bronze, as precious as gold.I said to them,“ You as well as these articles are consecrated to the Lord. The silver and gold are a freewill offering to the Lord, the God of your ancestors.

together with all the silver and gold you may obtain from the province of Babylon, as well as the freewill offerings of the people and priests for the temple of their God in Jerusalem.

Whoever would redeem any of their tithe must add a fifth of the value to it.

The Lord said to Moses,“ Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from everyone whose heart prompts them to give.

A proclamation was then issued in Judah and Jerusalem that they should bring to the Lord the tax that Moses the servant of God had required of Israel in the wilderness.All the officials and all the people brought their contributions gladly, dropping them into the chest until it was full.

It took Solomon thirteen years, however, to complete the construction of his palace.

They received from Moses all the offerings the Israelites had brought to carry out the work of constructing the sanctuary. And the people continued to bring freewill offerings morning after morning.

But Joash king of Judah took all the sacred objects dedicated by his predecessors— Jehoshaphat, Jehoram and Ahaziah, the kings of Judah— and the gifts he himself had dedicated and all the gold found in the treasuries of the temple of the Lord and of the royal palace, and he sent them to Hazael king of Aram, who then withdrew from Jerusalem.

King David dedicated these articles to the Lord, as he had done with the silver and gold he had taken from all these nations: Edom and Moab, the Ammonites and the Philistines, and Amalek.
