亞哈謝之母亞大利見子已沒、則殲滅宗室、殆盡、約蘭王女、亞哈謝妹、約示巴、見宗室將滅、則竊亞哈謝子約轄、與其乳媼、藏於寢室、以避亞大利、免其殘害。約示巴匿之於耶和華殿、歷至六年。亞大利統轄斯土。越至七年、耶何耶大招諸百夫長、與劊役、及趨承者、俱至耶和華殿、使之發誓、與之立約、然後以王子示之、

約轄即位之時、年僅七齡。

約轄年僅七齡即位、都耶路撒冷、歷四十年、母乃別是巴婦名西庇亞、祭司耶何耶大存日、約轄行善於耶和華前。耶何耶大為之娶二妻、誕育子女。約轄欲修葺耶和華殿、召祭司利未人曰、遍猶大諸邑、以色列族、歲必捐金、修葺上帝之殿、務期速成利未人獨不亟。王召祭司長耶何耶大告之曰、昔耶和華僕摩西、使以色列族、為法幕之用獻金、曷不使利未人、取猶大族、耶路撒冷民、所獻之金、以循此例。初亞大利不道、率子弟毀上帝殿、以所獻耶和華之物奉巴力、至是王命作匱、置耶和華殿門外、告猶大族、耶路撒冷民、當奉耶和華金、循上帝僕摩西、在野所命以色列族之例、民長與眾欣喜納金盈匱。利未人見金已多、舁匱入王所、王之繕寫、與祭司長之吏、傾取其金、以匱復其所、日恆如此、積金無算。王與耶何耶大、以金予統轄耶和華殿之工師、俾與修殿之木工、土工、鐵工、銅工、諸工興作、上帝之殿修葺完固、厥功告成。以餘金反王、及耶何耶大為耶和華殿作器皿、以供役事、爰及燔祭、即匙與金銀諸器耶何耶大存日、在耶和華殿、恆獻燔祭。

猶大王亞哈謝見此。則由離宮之道而遁。耶戶追襲其後、曰、當擊之於車中、既至附以伯連之姑耳岡、擊之至傷、王遁至米吉多而薨。
