他要救他们脱离别人的压迫和暴力，因为他爱惜他们的生命。

不过，只要能跑完我当跑的路程，完成主耶稣交托给我的使命——为上帝充满恩典的福音做见证，就是牺牲性命，我也在所不惜。

因为生命的赎价高昂，无人付得起，

因为想救自己生命的，必失去生命；但为了我而失去生命的，必得到生命。人若赚得全世界，却丧失自己的生命，又有什么益处呢？人还能拿什么换回自己的生命呢？

因为娼妓会使人倾家荡产，淫妇会猎杀人宝贵的生命。

以利亚说：“我若是上帝的仆人，愿火从天降下烧死你和你的五十个部下。”火立刻从天降下，烧死了五十夫长和他的五十个部下。亚哈谢王又派一个五十夫长率领五十人去以利亚那里，五十夫长对以利亚说：“上帝的仆人啊，王命令你马上下来。”

耶和华的眼目顾惜祂圣民的死亡。
