予一抵爾處、即擬備函派人、將爾之嘉惠送至耶路撒冷。至於人選、請爾定之；若須予親往、彼等伴我同行可也。

蓋萬事莫非為爾等之故、亦欲使聖寵廣被元元、俾萬眾一心、稱謝天主之光榮云耳。

如今予已綽綽有餘；蓋爾托伊巴弗提所賜多珍、悉已謹領；此不惟使予裕如、即在天主臺前、亦猶一瓣心香、無瑕之牲、焉有不蒙悅納者乎。吾知天主亦必因基督耶穌、按其無窮之蘊藏、日新之光榮饜飫爾之心願也。

宗徒長老與會、眾遂推選素孚眾望之巴撒巴樹德及西拉二人、偕葆樂巴拿巴同赴安提阿；

是則此項善舉不僅補聖徒之不足、抑且使眾心感謝天主、於以增益天主之光榮。申言之、若輩既見爾等慈善之明徵、必因爾等之服膺聖道及急公好義、而翕然歸榮於天主矣。同時若輩鑒於爾等之滿被聖寵、嚮往之念、必油然而發、且將為爾祈禱矣。

且天主全能、必使各種美德暢茂條達於爾等之胸中、俾爾等萬事舉足、無善不俱。

吾儕茲可告慰於爾等者、乃天主所賜於馬其頓諸聖會之恩寵也。彼等雖艱苦備嘗、而神樂恆湧於心中；貧窮至極、而熱情獨異乎尋常；慷慨輸將、惟力是視、甚有超過其力量者；此吾可為之作證也。彼等且再三懇求吾儕、准其同享賑濟聖徒之特恩；

因此同心合意推選同人、遣之與吾所敬愛之巴拿巴、葆樂、連袂訪爾。

各按所賦才能、互相效勞、庶無負天主多方授才之美意。蓋凡百才能、皆屬天主之付託；爾當忠心耿耿，無忝所受之惠也。凡任宣講者、當講述聖道、一若為天主之舌人者；其任服務者、則當依天主所賦之才力、儘量貢獻。總之、任作何事、務求以耶穌基督之名、歸榮天主。但願天主享受光榮與德能、永世靡暨、心焉祝之。

以是吾儕亦鼓勵提多繼續向爾等勸募、俾成爾等之美德。爾等既富於信德、口才、智慧、熱心、及友愛矣、則於慈善之美德、寧可後人耶？

請就爾中推選孚眾望、而富於聖神及智慧者七人、吾儕當委以斯職、而吾儕則專事祈禱傳道。』眾韙其言、遂選信德篤實、聖神充溢之司諦文、以及斐理伯、伯羅哥羅、尼迦挪、提門巴米拿與安提阿之歸化者尼各老、獻之於宗徒；宗徒乃按其頂而為之祈禱。
