We are not trying to commend ourselves to you again, but are giving you an opportunity to take pride in us, so that you can answer those who take pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart.

We are not trying to make an appeal to you again. But we are giving you a chance to take pride in us. Some people take pride in their looks rather than what’s in their hearts. If you take pride in us, you will be able to answer them.

Are we commending ourselves to you again? No, we are giving you a reason to be proud of us, so you can answer those who brag about having a spectacular ministry rather than having a sincere heart.

難道我們又在自我推薦嗎？難道我們像有些人，要拿薦信給你們，或向你們拿薦信嗎？

正如你們對我們已經有些認識，我盼望你們可以徹底明白：在我們的主耶穌的日子，我們是你們的光榮，你們也是我們的光榮。

我現在所作的，將來還要作，為了要斷絕那些投機分子的機會，不讓他們在所誇的事上，被人認為是跟我們一樣的。這樣的人是假使徒，是詭詐的工人，裝成基督的使徒。這並不希奇，因為撒但自己也裝作光明的天使，所以，撒但的僕役裝成公義的僕役，也不必大驚小怪。他們的結局必按他們所作的而定。我再說，誰也不要以為我是愚昧的；就算這樣，也要接納我這個愚昧的人，使我可以稍微地誇口。

那些在外表上要體面的人，他們勉強你們受割禮，不過是怕為了基督的十字架受迫害。那些受割禮的人，自己也不遵守律法，反而要你們受割禮，為的是要藉著你們的肉身誇口。至於我，我絕不以別的誇口，只誇我們主耶穌基督的十字架。藉著這十字架，在我來說，世界已經釘在十字架上了；就世界來說，我也已經釘在十字架上了。

誇口固然無益，卻也是必要的。現在我要說說主的異象和啟示。我認識一個在基督裡的人，他十四年前被提到第三層天上去。（是帶著身體被提的呢？我不知道，是離開了身體呢？我也不知道，只有神知道。）我認識這個人，（是帶著身體被提，還是在身體以外被提，我都不知道，只有神知道。）他被提到樂園裡去，聽見了難以言喻的話，那是人不可以說的。為了這個人，我要誇口，但為了我自己，除了我的軟弱以外，我沒有可誇的。即使我想誇口，也不算愚妄，因為我要說的是真話。但我閉口不提，免得有人把我看得太高，過於他在我身上所見所聞的。又因為我所得的啟示太大，恐怕會高抬自己，所以就有一根刺加在我的身上，就是撒但的差役來攻擊我，免得我高抬自己。為了這事，我曾經三次求主，使這根刺離開我。他卻對我說：“我的恩典是夠你用的，因為我的能力在人的軟弱上顯得完全。”所以，我更喜歡誇自己的軟弱，好讓基督的能力臨到我的身上。

主把權柄賜給我們，是為了要造就你們，不是要破壞你們，就算我為這權柄誇口過分了一點，也不會覺得慚愧。

反而在各樣的事上，表明自己是神的僕人，就如持久的忍耐、患難、貧乏、困苦、

我們不敢和那些自我推薦的人相提並論；他們拿自己來量自己，拿自己來比自己，實在不大聰明。

讓外人誇獎你，不可自己誇獎自己；讓別人稱讚你，不可自己稱讚自己。

我成了愚妄的人，是你們逼成的。其實你們應該稱讚我，因為我雖然算不得甚麼，卻沒有一點比不上那些“超等使徒”。

因為蒙悅納的，不是自我推薦的人，而是主所推薦的人。
