We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away.

We are not like Moses. He used to cover his face with a veil. That was to keep the people of Israel from seeing the end of what was passing away.

and not like Moses who used to put a veil over his face to keep the Israelites from staring at the result of the glory that was made ineffective.

摩西跟他們說完了話，就用面紗蒙上臉。但摩西進到耶和華面前與他說話的時候，就把面紗揭下，直到出來。摩西出來，將所吩咐他的話告訴以色列人。以色列人看見摩西的臉，他臉上的皮膚發光。摩西就用面紗蒙上臉，直到他進去與耶和華說話才揭下。

那用字刻在石頭上屬死的事奉尚且有榮光，以致以色列人因摩西臉上那逐漸褪色的榮光不能定睛看他的臉，

因為他自己是我們的和平，使雙方合而為一，拆毀了中間隔絕的牆，而且以自己的身體終止了冤仇，廢掉那記在律法上的規條，為要使兩方藉着自己造成一個新人，促成了和平；

這些原是未來的事的影子，真體卻是屬基督的。

但這「信」還未來以前，我們被看守在律法之下，像被圈住，直到那將來的「信」顯明出來。這樣，律法是我們的啟蒙教師，直到基督來了，好使我們因信稱義。

律法的總結就是基督，使所有信他的人都得着義。

既然律法只不過是未來美好事物的影子，不是本體的真像，就不能藉着每年常獻一樣的祭物，使那些進前來的人完全。若不然，獻祭的事豈不早已停止了嗎？因為敬拜的人僅只一次潔淨，良心就不再覺得有罪了。但是這些祭物使人每年都想起罪來，因為公牛和山羊的血不能除罪。所以，基督到世上來的時候，就說：「祭物和禮物不是你所要的，但你曾給我預備了身體。燔祭和贖罪祭是你不喜歡的。那時我說：看哪！我來了，我的事在經卷上已經記載了；上帝啊！我來為要照你的旨意行。」以上說：「祭物和禮物，以及燔祭和贖罪祭，不是你所要的，也不是你喜歡的。」這都是按着律法獻的。他接着說：「看哪！我來了，為要照你的旨意行。」可見他除去在先的，為要立定在後的。
