But they mocked God’s messengers, despised his words and scoffed at his prophets until the wrath of the Lord was aroused against his people and there was no remedy.

But God’s people made fun of his messengers. They hated his words. They laughed at his prophets. Finally the Lord’ s great anger was stirred up against his people. Nothing could save them.

信差從這城跑到那城，傳遍了以法蓮和瑪拿西之地，直到西布倫；那裏的人卻戲笑他們，譏誚他們。

看守耶穌的人戲弄他，打他，又蒙着他的眼，問他：「你說預言吧！打你的是誰？」

因為猶大王西底家囚禁他，說：「你為甚麼預言耶和華如此說：『看哪，我要把這城交在巴比倫王的手中，他必攻下這城。

因為我呼喚，你們不聽，我招手，無人理會。你們忽視我一切的勸戒，拒聽我的責備。你們遭難，我就發笑；驚恐臨到你們，驚恐如狂風來臨，災難好像暴風來到，急難痛苦臨到你們身上，我必嗤笑。

他們試探我，不斷嘲笑我，向我咬牙切齒。

但因我們祖先惹天上的神發怒，神把他們交在迦勒底人巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒的手中，他就拆毀這殿，又把百姓擄到巴比倫。

所以，災難必突然臨到他，他必頃刻被毀，無從醫治。

神啊，你為何永遠丟棄我們呢？為何向你草場的羊發怒，如煙冒出呢？

先知中有哪一個不是受你們祖宗的迫害呢？他們把預先宣告那義者要來的人殺了。如今你們成了那義者的出賣者和兇手了。

希律和他的士兵就藐視耶穌，戲弄他，給他穿上華麗的衣服，把他送回彼拉多那裏去。

還有人譏誚，說：「他們是灌滿了新酒吧！」

他將被交給外邦人；他們要戲弄他，凌辱他，向他吐唾沫，

所以，那棄絕這教導的不是棄絕人，而是棄絕那把自己的聖靈賜給你們的神。

眾人聽見死人復活的話，就有人譏誚他；又有人說：「我們會再聽你講這事。」

又有人忍受戲弄、鞭打、捆鎖、監禁、各等的磨煉；

法利賽人是貪愛錢財的；他們聽見這一切話，就嘲笑耶穌。

『要觀看，你們這些藐視的人，要驚訝，要滅亡，因為在你們的日子，我行一件事，雖有人告訴你們，你們總是不信。』」

現在你們不可傲慢，免得捆綁你們的繩索更結實，因為我從萬軍之主耶和華那裏聽見，在全地施行滅絕的事已定。

他們就拿住耶利米，把他丟在王的兒子瑪基雅的井裏；那口井在護衛兵的院中。他們用繩子把耶利米縋下去，井裏沒有水，只有淤泥，耶利米就陷在淤泥中。

要歡喜快樂，因為你們在天上的賞賜是很多的。在你們以前的先知，人也是這樣迫害他們。」

耶和華啊，你欺哄了我，我也被你欺哄了。你比我強，並且得勝。我終日成為笑柄，人人都戲弄我。

士兵也戲弄他，上前拿醋送給他喝，

神啊，外邦人侵犯你的產業，玷污你的聖殿，使耶路撒冷變成廢墟，將你僕人的屍首交給天空的飛鳥為食，把你聖民的肉交給地上的走獸，耶路撒冷的周圍流出他們的血如水，無人埋葬。我們成為鄰國羞辱的對象，被四圍的人嗤笑譏刺。耶和華啊，你發怒要到幾時呢？要到永遠嗎？你的忌恨要如火焚燒嗎？

「你們再聽一個比喻：有一個家的主人開墾了一個葡萄園，四周圍上籬笆，裏面挖了一個醡酒池，蓋了一座守望樓，租給園戶，就出外遠行去了。收果子的時候快到了，他打發僕人到園戶那裏去收果子。園戶拿住僕人，打了一個，殺了一個，用石頭打死了一個。主人又打發別的僕人去，比先前更多；園戶還是照樣對待他們。最後他打發自己的兒子到他們那裏去，說：『他們會尊敬我的兒子。』可是，園戶看見他兒子，彼此說：『這是承受產業的。來，我們殺了他，佔他的產業！』於是他們拿住他，把他扔出葡萄園外，殺了。葡萄園的主人來的時候，要怎樣處置那些園戶呢？」他們說：「要狠狠地除滅那些惡人，將葡萄園轉租給那些按時候交果子的園戶。」
