He stood above the people and said to them,“ This is what God says,‘ Why are you transgressing the LORD’s commands so that you do not prosper? Because you have abandoned the LORD, he has abandoned you.’”But they conspired against him and stoned him at the king’s command in the courtyard of the LORD’s temple.

So they got rid of the foreign gods among them and worshiped the LORD, and he became weary of Israel’s misery.

Still, the LORD warned Israel and Judah through every prophet and every seer, saying,“ Turn from your evil ways and keep my commands and statutes according to the whole law I commanded your ancestors and sent to you through my servants the prophets.”

The LORD spoke to Manasseh and his people, but they didn’t listen.

How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I surrender you, Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I treat you like Zeboiim? I have had a change of heart; my compassion is stirred!
