They were stiff-necked and did more evil than their ancestors.’“ When you tell them all this, they will not listen to you; when you call to them, they will not answer.Therefore say to them,‘ This is the nation that has not obeyed the Lord its God or responded to correction. Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. (niv)
