羅波安的國權一堅立，他一強盛、就離棄了永恆主的律法；以色列眾人也都同着他。

他又從猶大各城除掉了邱壇和香壇。在他手下國中享太平。他又在猶大建造了幾座堡障城；因為地方太平，這些年之中都沒有戰事，是因為永恆主使他得享平靜。他對猶大人說：『我們要修造這些城，讓四圍有牆，有譙樓，有門，有閂；地還在我們手下，因為我們尋求永恆主我們的上帝；我們既尋求他，他就使我們四面平靜。』於是他們就修造，而且很順利。

約阿施的臣僕起來反叛，在下悉拉的米羅宮那裏將他擊殺了。

烏西雅為他們、為全軍隊豫備了盾牌、槍、頭盔、鎧甲、弓、和甩機弦的石頭。他又在耶路撒冷作巧匠所巧設的機器，安在譙樓和角樓上，用來射箭、和射發大石頭。烏西雅的名聲傳出遠方，因為他很奇異地得了幫助，以致很強盛。

第七年耶何耶大奮勇自強，將百夫長耶羅罕的兒子亞撒利雅、約哈難的兒子以實瑪利、俄備得的兒子亞撒利雅、亞大雅的兒子瑪西雅、細基利的兒子以利沙法召了來，同他們立約。

亞捫人給烏西雅進貢；他的名聲傳到埃及，因為他非常強盛。
