They were comparing the God of Jerusalem to the gods of the other nations of the world. But those gods were only statues. They had been made by human hands.

And they spoke of the God of Jerusalem as they spoke of the gods of the peoples of the earth, which are the work of men’s hands.

These officers talked about the God of Jerusalem as though he were one of the pagan gods, made by human hands.

他們譏諷、嘲笑，懷著惡意說欺壓人的話。他們說話出於高傲；他們開口褻瀆上天，他們的舌頭殃及全地。因此連神的子民也轉向那裡，喝了他們大量的水。他們說：「神怎能知道呢？至高者有知識嗎？」

列國的偶像是銀的、金的，是人手所造的：它們有嘴卻不能說，有眼卻不能看；有耳卻不能聽，口中也沒有氣息；那些造它們的、所有依靠它們的，都會像它們那樣。

在猶大，神被人所認識；在以色列，他的名為大。他的帳幕在撒冷，他的住處在錫安。

相反，你們卻是來到了錫安山、永生神的城、天上的耶路撒冷面前；來到了千萬天使的盛會面前；

因為耶和華選擇了錫安，選定她作自己居住的地方：「這是我永遠的安息之所；我要住在這裡，因為我選定了錫安。

惡人為什麼藐視神，為什麼心裡說「你不會追討」呢？其實你已經看見，你顧念人的禍患和煩惱，把它們放在你的手中。無助之人把自己交託給你，你一向是孤兒的幫助者。

他卻揀選了猶大支派，他所愛的錫安山。

無論獅子還是熊，你的僕人都擊殺過。這未受割禮的非利士人也必像牠們中的一個，因為他辱罵永生神的軍隊。」

他用一半的木頭燒火，在其上做肉吃；他烤肉、吃飽，又自己取暖，說：「啊哈，我暖和了！我感到火熱了。」他用剩下的一半做了一個神像，就是他雕刻的偶像，然後向它俯伏下拜，又向它禱告，說：「求你救我，因為你是我的神。」這樣的人不明白，也不領悟，因為耶和華蒙蔽他們的眼使他們不能看見，蒙蔽他們的心使他們不能明悟。他們不反思，也沒有知識和聰慧來說：「我用一半的木頭燒火，又在火炭上烘餅，烤肉吃。我怎麼能用剩下的木頭製造可憎之物呢？我怎麼能向一塊木頭膜拜呢？」他們追求的只是灰燼；他們的心受了迷惑，使他們偏離正道；他們不能救自己，也不會說：「我右手中的，難道不是虛謊之物嗎？」
