who wants to worship God with all their heart. God is the Lord, the God of their people. May God forgive them even if they aren’t‘ clean’ in keeping with the rules of the temple.”

who sets his heart to seek God, the Lord, the God of his fathers, even though not according to the sanctuary’s rules of cleanness.”

who decide to follow the Lord, the God of their ancestors, even though they are not properly cleansed for the ceremony.”

whoever sets his whole heart on seeking God, the LORD, the God of his ancestors, even though not according to the purification rules of the sanctuary.”

everyone who prepares his heart to seek God, the Lord God of his fathers, though not according to the purification rules of the sanctuary.”

以斯拉定意研讀、遵行耶和華的律法，並在以色列教導律例和典章。

「你若把心安正，向祂舉手禱告；

耶和華啊，你知道困苦人的願望，你必垂聽他們的呼求，安慰他們。

我們祖先亞伯拉罕、以撒、以色列的上帝耶和華啊！求你使你的子民常存這樣的心志，使他們的心忠於你。

然而，他沒有拆除邱壇，民眾還沒有全心歸向他們祖先的上帝。

把以下條例告訴他們。「你們的後代中，如果有人不潔淨，卻接近以色列人獻給我的聖物，必須把他從我面前剷除。我是耶和華。亞倫的後代中若有人患了痲瘋病或漏症，在他潔淨之前，不可吃聖物。如果有人遺精，或碰到因接觸屍體而不潔淨之物，或碰到不潔淨的爬蟲，或碰到不潔淨的人，這人就不潔淨，要到傍晚之後才能潔淨。他要沐浴後才可吃聖物。

「你把以下條例告訴亞倫。「你的子孫中，任何有殘疾的人都不可前來獻他上帝的食物，這是世世代代都要遵守的律例。瞎眼的、跛腳的、五官不正的、畸形的、四肢不全的、駝背的、矮小的、患眼疾的、長疥癬的或睪丸受損的，都不可近前來獻祭。亞倫祭司子孫中有殘疾的都不可向耶和華獻火祭。他們既然有殘疾，就不可近前來獻我的食物。他們可以吃我的食物，聖的和至聖的都可以吃。但他們不可走近幔子或祭壇，因為他們有殘疾。這樣做是為了避免他們褻瀆我的聖所。我是使聖所聖潔的耶和華。」

若有人碰過屍體卻不自潔，他就玷污了耶和華的聖幕，要將他從以色列人中剷除，因為除穢水沒有灑在他身上，污穢還留在他身上。若有人死在帳篷裡，當時走進帳篷的或在場的人都七天不潔淨。帳篷裡沒有蓋的敞口器皿都不潔淨。人若在野外碰過被殺或自然死亡之人的屍體，或碰過死人的骸骨或墳墓，就七天不潔淨。要拿些除罪用的紅母牛灰，放在器皿裡，倒上清水，然後由潔淨的人拿牛膝草蘸這水灑在帳篷及裡面所有的人和器具上，也要灑在碰過骸骨、墳墓、被殺者屍體或自然死亡者屍體的人身上。要由潔淨的人在第三天和第七天把水灑在不潔淨的人身上。到第七天，接受潔淨禮的人要洗衣、沐浴，等到傍晚才能潔淨。若有人沾了污穢卻沒有用除穢水自潔，他就不潔淨，要將他從會眾中剷除，因為他玷污了耶和華的聖所。

你們要使以色列人遠離不潔之物，免得他們因玷污我的聖幕而死亡。」以上是為患漏症的人，包括遺精、行經的女人、患漏症的男女、與不潔淨女人同房的男人所設立的條例。

婦人因產後流血，要等三十三天才能潔淨。其間，不可接觸任何聖物，也不可進入聖所。

可是，有幾個人因碰到死屍而不潔淨，不能在那天守逾越節，他們就來見摩西和亞倫，

撒母耳對他們說：「如果你們全心歸向耶和華，就要除掉你們那些外族的神明，包括亞斯她錄神像，一心歸向耶和華，單單事奉祂，祂必從非利士人手中救你們。」
