告诉他要谨慎镇定，不要害怕，不要因亚兰王利迅和利玛利的儿子的怒气而胆怯，他们不过是两个冒烟的火把头。亚兰王和以法莲及利玛利的儿子阴谋毁灭他，

“祂要使你们被敌人击败、溃不成军、四散逃命，下场令天下万国惊惧。

那时，耶和华差遣亚兰王利汛和利玛利的儿子比加攻打犹大。

万国必问，‘耶和华为什么要这样对待这地方？祂为什么大发烈怒？’必有人回答说，‘因为这地方的人背弃了他们祖先的上帝耶和华领他们出埃及时与他们所立的约，去供奉、祭拜他们所不认识、并非耶和华所分派的神明。

以色列的都城是撒玛利亚，撒玛利亚的首领是利玛利的儿子。你们信心若不坚定，必无法坚立。’”

大地被世人玷污，他们违犯律法，不守律例，背弃永远的约。所以大地必遭受咒诅，世人必因罪而受惩罚。他们必被焚烧，所剩无几。

“你们若不听从你们的上帝耶和华，不谨遵祂今天借我吩咐你们的一切诫命和律例，祂必使以下的咒诅临到你们。

说，‘这堕落的子民，不忠的儿女！我要掩面不理他们，看他们的结局如何。

他便出来迎接亚撒，对他说：“亚撒啊，所有的犹大人和便雅悯人啊，请听我说！你们若顺从耶和华，祂必与你们同在。你们若寻求祂，祂必让你们寻见。你们若背弃祂，祂必离弃你们。

你必因自己的罪恶而受惩罚，因自己的背叛而受责备。因此，你要省察且明白，背弃你的上帝耶和华、不敬畏我是多么邪恶、痛苦。这是万军之耶和华说的。

你背弃我，远离我，因此我要伸手攻击你，毁灭你，不再怜悯你。这是耶和华说的。

但叛逆之辈和犯罪之徒必遭毁灭，背弃耶和华的人必灭亡。

不可随从周围各族的神明，免得你们的上帝耶和华向你们发怒，把你们从世上消灭；因为祂住在你们当中，祂痛恨不贞。

亚比雅和他的军队大败以色列人，歼灭了他们五十万精兵。

耶和华对摩西说：“你快要与祖先同眠了。这些百姓将很快在要占领的土地上与外族人的神明苟合，背弃我，违背我与他们所立的约。那时，我要向他们发怒，离弃他们，掩面不理他们。他们将被吞灭，遭遇许多祸患和灾难，以致他们会说，‘这些祸患临到我们岂不是因为上帝不在我们中间了吗？’
