Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Ahaziah, at Beth Shemesh. Then Jehoash brought him to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate— a section about four hundred cubits long.

Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah at Beth Shemesh. Amaziah was the son of Joash. Joash was the son of Ahaziah. Jehoash brought Amaziah to Jerusalem. Jehoash broke down part of its wall. It’s the part that went from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate. That part of the wall was 600 feet long.

And Joash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem for 400 cubits, from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate.

King Jehoash of Israel captured Judah’s king, Amaziah son of Joash and grandson of Ahaziah, at Beth shemesh. Then he brought him to Jerusalem, where he demolished 600 feet of Jerusalem’s wall, from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate.

他們起兵攻打猶大，侵入境內，擄走了王宮裡的所有財物以及約蘭的兒子和妻妾，只留下他最小的兒子約哈斯。

於是，民眾都出去取來樹枝，在自家的屋頂上、庭院裡、上帝殿的院子裡、水門的廣場上和以法蓮門的廣場上搭棚。

耶路撒冷的居民擁立約蘭的小兒子亞哈謝為王。因為約蘭的其他兒子都被那些與阿拉伯人同來攻營的匪徒殺了，於是猶大王約蘭的兒子亞哈謝做了王。

然後又經過以法蓮門、古門、魚門、哈楠業樓、哈米亞樓，遠至羊門，之後停在護衛門。

耶和華說：「看啊，時候將到，從哈楠業樓直到角門，整個耶路撒冷城要重建起來歸給耶和華。

烏西雅在耶路撒冷的角門、谷門和城牆拐角的地方建造城樓，並加固城樓，

你住在懸崖峭壁間，住在高山上，自以為誰也不能把你拉下來，但你的驕傲欺騙了你。

因為自高的人必遭貶抑，謙卑的人必得尊榮。」

驕傲的人必遭貶抑，謙卑的人必得尊榮。

那年春天，尼布甲尼撒王派人把他和耶和華殿裡的貴重器皿一同帶到巴比倫。尼布甲尼撒另立約雅斤的叔叔西底迦做猶大和耶路撒冷的王。

現在我尼布甲尼撒頌讚、尊崇、敬奉天上的王，因為祂的作為公正，祂行事公平，能夠貶抑行為驕傲的人。」

巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒起兵攻打他，用銅鏈把他鎖著帶到巴比倫。

驕橫是淪亡的前奏，狂傲是敗落的預兆。

所以，耶和華就差遣亞述王的將領來攻擊他們，他們捉住瑪拿西，用鉤子鉤著他，用銅鏈鎖著他押往巴比倫。

約蘭便回到耶斯列療傷。猶大王亞哈謝前去探望他。
