Although the Lord sent prophets to the people to bring them back to him, and though they testified against them, they would not listen.

The Lord sent prophets to the people to bring them back to him. The prophets told the people what they were doing wrong. But the people wouldn’t listen.

Yet he sent prophets among them to bring them back to the Lord. These testified against them, but they would not pay attention.

The Lord sent all His servants the prophets to you time and time again, but you have not obeyed or even paid attention.He announced,‘ Turn, each of you, from your evil way of life and from your evil deeds. Live in the land the Lord gave to you and your ancestors long ago and forever.

Pay attention to Me, My people, and listen to Me, My nation; for instruction will come from Me, and My justice for a light to the nations. I will bring it about quickly.

Who among you will pay attention to this? Let him listen and obey in the future.

For this people’s heart has grown callous; their ears are hard of hearing, and they have shut their eyes; otherwise they might see with their eyes and hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn back— and I would cure them.“ But your eyes are blessed because they do see, and your ears because they do hear!

and by listening to the words of My servants the prophets I have been sending you time and time again, though you did not listen,

Since the day your ancestors came out of the land of Egypt until this day, I have sent all My servants the prophets to you time and time again.However, they wouldn’t listen to Me or pay attention but became obstinate; they did more evil than their ancestors.

So I sent you all My servants the prophets time and time again, saying: Don’t do this detestable thing that I hate.But they did not listen or pay attention; they did not turn from their evil or stop burning incense to other gods.

For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, the sheep under His care. Today, if you hear His voice:Do not harden your hearts as at Meribah, as on that day at Massah in the wilderness

“ But he told him,‘ If they don’t listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be persuaded if someone rises from the dead.’”

Still, the Lord warned Israel and Judah through every prophet and every seer, saying,“ Turn from your evil ways and keep My commands and statutes according to all the law I commanded your ancestors and sent to you through My servants the prophets.”But they would not listen. Instead they became obstinate like their ancestors who did not believe the Lord their God.They rejected His statutes and His covenant He had made with their ancestors and the decrees He had given them. They pursued worthless idols and became worthless themselves, following the surrounding nations the Lord had commanded them not to imitate.

But they were disobedient and rebelled against You. They flung Your law behind their backs and killed Your prophets who warned them in order to turn them back to You. They committed terrible blasphemies.

Anyone who has ears should listen!”

Pay attention and come to Me; listen, so that you will live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, the promises assured to David.

“ Woe to you! You build monuments to the prophets, and your fathers killed them.Therefore, you are witnesses that you approve the deeds of your fathers, for they killed them, and you build their monuments.Because of this, the wisdom of God said,‘ I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,’so that this generation may be held responsible for the blood of all the prophets shed since the foundation of the world—from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary.“ Yes, I tell you, this generation will be held responsible.

Listen and hear my voice. Pay attention and hear what I say.

But Yahweh, the God of their ancestors sent word against them by the hand of His messengers, sending them time and time again, for He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place.But they kept ridiculing God’s messengers, despising His words, and scoffing at His prophets, until the Lord’s wrath was so stirred up against His people that there was no remedy.

Then He began to tell the people this parable:“ A man planted a vineyard, leased it to tenant farmers, and went away for a long time.At harvest time he sent a slave to the farmers so that they might give him some fruit from the vineyard. But the farmers beat him and sent him away empty-handed.He sent yet another slave, but they beat that one too, treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty-handed.And he sent yet a third, but they wounded this one too and threw him out.“ Then the owner of the vineyard said,‘ What should I do? I will send my beloved son. Perhaps they will respect him.’“ But when the tenant farmers saw him, they discussed it among themselves and said,‘ This is the heir. Let’s kill him, so the inheritance will be ours!’So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.“ Therefore, what will the owner of the vineyard do to them?
