They abandoned the temple of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and worshiped Asherah poles and idols. Because of their guilt, God’s anger came on Judah and Jerusalem.

They turned their backs on the temple of the Lord, the God of their people. They worshiped poles made to honor the female god named Asherah. They also worshiped statues of other gods. Because Judah and Jerusalem were guilty of sin, God became angry with them.

And they abandoned the house of the Lord, the God of their fathers, and served the Asherim and the idols. And wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this guilt of theirs.

They decided to abandon the Temple of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and they worshiped Asherah poles and idols instead! Because of this sin, divine anger fell on Judah and Jerusalem.

哈拿尼的兒子耶戶先見出來迎接約沙法王，對他說：「你怎麼可以幫助惡人，愛那恨耶和華的人呢？因此耶和華的憤怒臨到你了。

此後，約阿施有心重修耶和華的殿，

從前謝拉的曾孫亞干豈不是在那當滅的物上犯了罪，導致憤怒臨到以色列全會眾嗎？死在他所犯的罪中的，不只是他一個人而已！』」

對他們說：「你們不可把這些被擄的人帶到這裏，因我們已經得罪耶和華了。你們還想加增我們的罪惡過犯嗎？因為我們的罪過深重，已經有烈怒臨到以色列了。」

耶和華的憤怒臨到猶大和耶路撒冷，使他們恐懼，令人驚駭，使人嗤笑，正如你們親眼所見的。

希西家卻沒有照他所蒙的恩回報，因他心裏驕傲，所以憤怒要臨到他，臨到猶大和耶路撒冷。

因為他們在各高岡上，各青翠樹下築丘壇，立柱像和亞舍拉。

猶大的領袖如同挪移地界的人，我必把我的憤怒如水傾倒在他們身上。以法蓮因喜愛遵從荒謬的命令，就受欺壓，在審判中被壓碎。

你反倒行惡，比在你之前所有的人更嚴重；你離開了我，為自己立了別神，鑄了偶像，惹我發怒，將我丟在背後。

你要拆毀他們的祭壇，打碎他們的柱像，砍斷他們的亞舍拉。

我必向以法蓮如獅子，向猶大家如少壯獅子。我要撕裂，並且離去，我必奪去，無人搭救。

不要被人虛浮的話欺騙了，因這些事，神的憤怒必臨到那些悖逆的人。

眾祭司長和百姓也多多犯罪，效法列國一切可憎的事，玷污耶和華在耶路撒冷分別為聖的殿。耶和華－他們列祖的神因為愛惜自己的百姓和居所，一再差遣使者去警戒他們。他們卻嘲笑神的使者，藐視他的話，譏誚他的先知，以致耶和華向他的百姓大發烈怒，甚至無法可救。

他重新建築他父親希西家所拆毀的丘壇，為諸巴力築壇，造亞舍拉，又敬拜天上的萬象，事奉它們。他在耶和華殿中築壇，耶和華曾指着這殿說：「我的名必永遠在耶路撒冷。」他在耶和華殿的兩個院子為天上的萬象築壇，並在欣嫩子谷使他的兒子經火，又觀星象，行法術，行邪術，求問招魂的和行巫術的，多行耶和華眼中看為惡的事，惹他發怒。他在神殿內立雕刻的偶像；神曾對大衛和他兒子所羅門說：「我在以色列眾支派中所選擇的耶路撒冷和這殿，必立我的名，直到永遠。

反而行以色列諸王的道，使猶大和耶路撒冷居民行淫，像亞哈家行淫一樣，又殺了你父家比你好的那些兄弟。

耶和華的怒氣又向以色列發作，激起大衛來對付他們，說：「去，數點以色列人和猶大人。」

所羅門年老的時候，他的妻妾誘惑他的心去隨從別神，不像他父親大衛以純正的心順服耶和華－他的神。所羅門隨從西頓人的女神亞斯她錄和亞捫人可憎的米勒公。

以色列人選擇新的諸神，戰爭就臨到城門。以色列四萬人中，看得見盾牌槍矛嗎？

我必伸手攻擊猶大和耶路撒冷所有的居民；從這地方剪除剩下的巴力、事奉偶像之祭司的名字與祭司；還有那些在屋頂拜天上萬象的，那些敬拜耶和華指着他起誓，卻又指着米勒公起誓的；並那些轉去不跟從耶和華，不尋求耶和華，也不求問他的。」
