They abandoned the temple of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and worshiped Asherah poles and idols. Because of their guilt, God’s anger came on Judah and Jerusalem.

They turned their backs on the temple of the Lord, the God of their people. They worshiped poles made to honor the female god named Asherah. They also worshiped statues of other gods. Because Judah and Jerusalem were guilty of sin, God became angry with them.

And they abandoned the house of the Lord, the God of their fathers, and served the Asherim and the idols. And wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this guilt of theirs.

They decided to abandon the Temple of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and they worshiped Asherah poles and idols instead! Because of this sin, divine anger fell on Judah and Jerusalem.

先見哈拿尼的兒子耶戶出來迎見約沙法王，對他說：“你怎能幫助惡人，喜愛那恨惡耶和華的人呢？因此耶和華的忿怒必臨到你身上。

此後，約阿施有意重修耶和華的殿，

從前謝拉的曾孫亞干，不是在當毀滅的物上犯了不忠的罪，以致神的忿怒臨到以色列全體會眾嗎？因他的罪孽而死的，還不只他一人呢！’”

對他們說：“你們不可把這些俘虜帶進來，因為我們已經得罪了耶和華，你們想增加我們的罪惡和過犯，我們的過犯實在嚴重，耶和華的震怒臨到以色列人身上了。”

因此，耶和華的震怒臨到猶大和耶路撒冷的居民身上，使他們成為令人恐懼、驚駭和嗤笑的對象，就像你們親眼看見的一樣。

希西家卻沒有照著他蒙受的恩惠報答耶和華；因為他心高氣傲，所以耶和華的忿怒臨到他，以及猶大和耶路撒冷的人身上。

他們又為自己在各高岡上，各茂盛樹下建造邱壇、神柱和亞舍拉。

“猶大的領袖，好像挪移地界的人，我要把我的忿怒傾倒在他們身上，如同倒水一樣。以法蓮受欺壓，被審判壓碎；因為他們樂意隨從人的命令。

你反倒行惡，比那些在你以前的更壞；又去為自己製造了別的神和鑄造偶像惹我發怒，把我丟在背後。

他們的祭壇你們卻要拆毀，他們的柱像你們要打碎，他們的亞舍拉你們要砍下。

因為我對以法蓮要像隻猛獅，對猶大家必像頭少壯獅子。我要親自撕裂他們，然後離去；我把他們帶走，沒有人能搭救。

不要給別人用空言欺騙了你們，正因為這些事，神的震怒必定臨到那些悖逆的人。

此外，所有的祭司長和人民也都大大地得罪神，隨從列國所行一切可憎的事；他們污穢了耶和華在耶路撒冷分別為聖的殿。耶和華他們列祖的神，因為愛惜自己的子民和居所，就常常差派使者警戒他們。他們卻戲弄神的使者，藐視他的話，譏誚他的先知，以致耶和華的忿怒臨到他的子民身上，直到無法挽救。

他重新建造他父親希西家拆毀的邱壇，又為巴力立壇，製造亞舍拉，並且敬拜和事奉天上的萬象。他又在耶和華的殿中築壇，耶和華曾經指著這殿說：“我的名必永遠留在耶路撒冷。”瑪拿西在耶和華殿的兩院中，為天上的萬象築壇，並且在欣嫩子谷把自己的兒女用火燒為祭，又占卜、行邪術、用法術、交鬼和通靈；作了很多耶和華看為惡的事，惹他發怒。他又把他所做的雕像立在神的殿中，神曾經指著這殿，對大衛和他的兒子所羅門說：“我要在這殿裡，和在我從以色列各支派中揀選的耶路撒冷中，立我的名，直到永遠。

卻隨從了以色列諸王的道路，使猶大人和耶路撒冷的居民行邪淫，好像亞哈家行邪淫一樣；又殺了你父家比你良善的眾兄弟；

耶和華又向以色列人發怒，就激動大衛，使他們受害，說：“你去數點一下以色列和猶大的人數吧！”

所羅門年老的時候，他的妃嬪誘惑他的心偏離了神去隨從別的神。他的心不像他的父親大衛那樣完全歸於耶和華他的神。因為所羅門隨從西頓人的女神亞斯他錄，和亞捫人可憎的偶像米勒公。

以色列人選擇了新的神，戰爭就臨近城門；那時四萬以色列人中，竟不見有一面盾牌、一枝長矛。

我必伸手攻擊猶大，攻擊耶路撒冷所有的居民。我必從這地方除掉巴力所餘下的，除掉拜偶像的祭司的名字，以及耶和華的祭司；就是那些在房頂上敬拜天上萬象的，那些敬拜耶和華，指著他起誓，又指著瑪勒公起誓的，那些轉離不跟從耶和華的，不尋找耶和華，也不求問他的。”
