Nevertheless, because of the covenant the Lord had made with David, the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David. He had promised to maintain a lamp for him and his descendants forever.

But the Lord didn’t want to destroy the royal family of David. That’s because the Lord had made a covenant with him. The Lord had promised to keep the lamp of David’s kingdom burning brightly. The Lord had promised that for David and his children after him forever.

Yet the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and since he had promised to give a lamp to him and to his sons forever.

But the Lord did not want to destroy David’s dynasty, for he had made a covenant with David and promised that his descendants would continue to rule, shining like a lamp forever.

but for the sake of the covenant the LORD had made with David, he was unwilling to destroy the house of David since the LORD had promised to give a lamp to David and to his sons forever.

“让我们上去攻击犹大，恐吓它，攻破它归我们，并在其中立塔比勒的儿子为王”，但主耶和华如此说：“这事必立不住，也不会得逞，

我要向他持守我的慈爱，直到永远；我与他所立的约也必坚定。我要坚立他的后裔，直到永远；使他的宝座如天之久。如果他的子孙离弃我的律法，不照着我的法规而行；如果他们亵渎我的律例，不遵守我的诫命；我就要用杖惩罚他们的过犯，用鞭惩罚他们的罪孽。然而，我不会从他身上收回我的慈爱，也不会背弃我的信实。我不会违背我的约，也不会改变我口中所出的话。

在那里，我要使一个角为大卫长出，为我的受膏者摆好灯盏。我必使他的仇敌披上耻辱；而他的冠冕必在他头上发光。”

你废弃了与你仆人所立的约，把他的冠冕践踏在地。

耶和华以信实向大卫起了誓，必不收回，他说：“我将从你亲生的后裔中，立一位坐在你的宝座上。
