那时，他们彼此说：“我们所做的不对了！这一天是有好消息的日子，我们竟不作声！若等到天亮，我们就有罪了。现在，来，我们去向王室报信吧！”他们就去叫守城门的人，告诉他们说：“我们到了亚兰人的军营，看哪，没有一人在那里，也无人声，只有拴着的马和驴，帐棚都留在原处。”守城门的人就呼叫，他们向城内的王室报信。王夜间起来，对臣仆说：“我告诉你们亚兰人向我们做的事。他们知道我们饥饿，所以离营，埋伏在田野，说：‘以色列人出城的时候，我们活捉他们，我们就可以进到城里去。’”王的一个臣仆回答说：“不如叫人从城里剩下的马中取五匹，看哪，这些马像以色列大众一样，快要灭亡了；我们派人去窥探吧！”于是他们取了两辆车和马，王派人去跟踪亚兰人的军队，说：“你们去窥探吧。”他们去跟踪亚兰人，直到约旦河。看哪，整条路上都是亚兰人匆忙逃跑时所丢弃的衣服和器具，使者就回来向王报告。百姓就出去，掳掠亚兰人的军营。于是一细亚细面只卖一舍客勒，二细亚大麦也卖一舍客勒，正如耶和华所说的。

凡亚玛力人所掳去的，无论大小、儿女、掠物和一切被掳去的，大卫全都夺回来。大卫所夺来的牛群羊群，有人赶在群畜前面，说：“这是大卫的掠物。”

每一个妇女必向她的邻舍，以及寄居在她家里的女人，索取金器、银器和衣裳，给你们的儿女穿戴。这样你们就掠夺了埃及人。”

摩西对他们说：“你们要让这所有的妇女活着吗？

“统领大军的君王逃跑了，逃跑了！”在家等候的妇女也分得了掠物。

比宝石更宝贵，你一切所喜爱的，都不足与其比较。

以色列人照摩西的话去做，向埃及人索取金器、银器和衣裳。耶和华使埃及人看得起他的百姓，埃及人就给了他们所要的。他们就掠夺了埃及人。

然而，靠着爱我们的主，在这一切的事上，我们已经得胜有余了。
