Jehu the seer, the son of Hanani, went out to meet him and said to the king,“ Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Because of this, the wrath of the Lord is on you.

Jehu the prophet went out to meet him. He was the son of Hanani. Jehu said to the king,“ You shouldn’t help evil people. You shouldn’t love those who hate the Lord. The Lord is angry with you.

But Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat,“ Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Because of this, wrath has gone out against you from the Lord.

Then Jehu son of the seer Hanani went out to confront him and said to King Jehoshaphat,“ Do you help the wicked and love those who hate the LORD? Because of this, the LORD’s wrath is on you.

And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat,“ Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord, and by doing so bring wrath on yourself from the Lord?

And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to King Jehoshaphat,“ Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Therefore the wrath of the Lord is upon you.

And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the wicked, and love them that hate Jehovah? for this thing wrath is upon thee from before Jehovah.

Then Jehu son of Hanani the seer went out to confront him and said to King Jehoshaphat,“ Do you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Because of this, the Lord’s wrath is on you.

And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the LORD? therefore[ is] wrath upon thee from before the LORD.

the prophet Jehu son of Hanani confronted him; he said to King Jehoshaphat,“ Is it right to help the wicked and be an ally of those who oppose the LORD? Because you have done this the LORD is angry with you!

Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat,“ Should you help the wicked, and love those who hate Yahweh? Because of this, wrath is on you from before Yahweh.

O Lord, shouldn’t I hate those who hate you? Shouldn’t I despise those who oppose you?Yes, I hate them with total hatred, for your enemies are my enemies.

The rest of the events of Jehoshaphat’s reign, from beginning to end, are recorded in The Record of Jehu Son of Hanani, which is included in The Book of the Kings of Israel.

But Hezekiah did not respond appropriately to the kindness shown him, and he became proud. So the Lord’s anger came against him and against Judah and Jerusalem.

They decided to abandon the Temple of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and they worshiped Asherah poles and idols instead! Because of this sin, divine anger fell on Judah and Jerusalem.

At that time Hanani the seer came to King Asa and told him,“ Because you have put your trust in the king of Aram instead of in the Lord your God, you missed your chance to destroy the army of the king of Aram.

“ Will you go with me to Ramoth gilead?” King Ahab of Israel asked King Jehoshaphat of Judah. Jehoshaphat replied,“ Why, of course! You and I are as one, and my troops are your troops. We will certainly join you in battle.”

Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them.

This message from the Lord was delivered to King Baasha by the prophet Jehu son of Hanani:

They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.

For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will.

( In those days if people wanted a message from God, they would say,“ Let’s go and ask the seer,” for prophets used to be called seers.)

You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.

My child, if sinners entice you, turn your back on them!They may say,“ Come and join us. Let’s hide and kill someone! Just for fun, let’s ambush the innocent!Let’s swallow them alive, like the grave; let’s swallow them whole, like those who go down to the pit of death.Think of the great things we’ll get! We’ll fill our houses with all the stuff we take.Come, throw in your lot with us; we’ll all share the loot.”My child, don’t go along with them! Stay far away from their paths.They rush to commit evil deeds. They hurry to commit murder.If a bird sees a trap being set, it knows to stay away.But these people set an ambush for themselves; they are trying to get themselves killed.Such is the fate of all who are greedy for money; it robs them of life.

We wither beneath your anger; we are overwhelmed by your fury.You spread out our sins before you— our secret sins— and you see them all.

They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents.

So Zimri destroyed the dynasty of Baasha as the Lord had promised through the prophet Jehu.

Bless the ministry of the Levites, O Lord, and accept all the work of their hands. Hit their enemies where it hurts the most; strike down their foes so they never rise again.”

But he does not hesitate to punish and destroy those who reject him.

I will tell everyone about your righteousness. All day long I will proclaim your saving power, though I am not skilled with words.

But if we would examine ourselves, we would not be judged by God in this way.Yet when we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned along with the world.

The king of Israel replied to Jehoshaphat,“ There is one more man who could consult the Lord for us, but I hate him. He never prophesies anything but trouble for me! His name is Micaiah son of Imlah.” Jehoshaphat replied,“ That’s not the way a king should talk! Let’s hear what he has to say.”

Those who despise flagrant sinners, and honor the faithful followers of the Lord, and keep their promises even when it hurts.

But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness.

You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected— even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me.

The message from the Lord against Baasha and his family came through the prophet Jehu son of Hanani. It was delivered because Baasha had done what was evil in the Lord’s sight( just as the family of Jeroboam had done), and also because Baasha had destroyed the family of Jeroboam. The Lord’s anger was provoked by Baasha’s sins.

So King Ahab of Israel and King Jehoshaphat of Judah led their armies against Ramoth gilead.

You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected— even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me.

Anyone who hates me also hates my Father.

You will capture all your enemies. Your strong right hand will seize all who hate you.

when I sharpen my flashing sword and begin to carry out justice, I will take revenge on my enemies and repay those who reject me.

Jehoshaphat enjoyed great riches and high esteem, and he made an alliance with Ahab of Israel by having his son marry Ahab’s daughter.

Rise up, O God, and scatter your enemies. Let those who hate God run for their lives.

( No one else so completely sold himself to what was evil in the Lord’s sight as Ahab did under the influence of his wife Jezebel.

“ If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first.
