His heart was devoted to the ways of the Lord; furthermore, he removed the high places and the Asherah poles from Judah.

約沙法走他父親亞撒所始終走的路，總不偏離，乃行永恆主所看為對的事；只是邱壇還沒有廢去，人民仍然在邱壇上宰牲燻祭。

然而你還有良好的表現，因為你從國中將亞舍拉神木肅清，你並且立定了心意尋求上帝。』

他在位第八年，那時還年幼，就開始尋求他祖大衛的上帝。第十二年他便開始潔淨猶大和耶路撒冷，除去邱壇、亞舍拉神木、雕像、和鑄像。眾人在他面前拆毁了巴力的祭壇，他砍下了壇上高高的香壇，又把亞舍拉神木、雕像和鑄像打碎成灰，撒在對這些偶像獻過祭的人的墳墓上。他又將他們的祭司的骸骨燒在他們的祭壇上，而潔淨了猶大和耶路撒冷。又在瑪拿西、以法蓮、西緬、甚至拿弗他利各城、使他們四境的廟宇荒廢。他又拆毁了祭壇，把亞舍拉神木和雕像砸碎成灰，將以色列遍地所有的香壇都砍下來，然後回耶路撒冷去。

說：『哦，你這充滿一切詭詐、一切匪行、魔鬼的兒子、一切正義的仇敵啊，你使主正直的路偏差、還不停止麼？

他們要默想永恆主所行的；因為永恆主大有榮耀。

這一切事既已作完，所有在場的以色列眾人就都出去、到猶大各城市，把崇拜柱子打碎，將亞舍拉神木砍下；又從猶大、便雅憫、以法蓮、瑪拿西遍地、將邱壇和祭壇全都拆毁；於是以色列眾人都回本城，各歸自己的地業去。

因為那時你必以全能者為樂趣；你必仰臉敬畏上帝。

因為我守定了永恆主的道路；我未曾作惡離開我的上帝。因為他一切典章常在我面前；他的律例我未曾離棄。

誰是智慧人，讓他明白這些事吧！誰是明達人，讓他領會吧！因為永恆主的道路是正直的，義人行走於其中，違犯者卻跌倒於其上。

行徑純全、遵永恆主律法行的、有福啊！

他除掉了外人祭壇和邱壇，打碎了崇拜柱子，砍下了亞舍拉神木，
