示撒率领战车一千二百辆，马兵六万，和他一同从埃及出来的路比人、苏基人和古实人，多得无法数算。

以色列人在犹大人面前逃跑；神把他们交在犹大人手里。

义人的拯救是由耶和华而来；在患难的时候，他作他们的避难所。耶和华帮助他们，搭救他们；他搭救他们脱离恶人，拯救他们，因为他们投靠他。

那时有古实人谢拉率领一百万军队，战车三百辆，前来攻打犹大人；他来到了玛利沙。于是亚撒出去迎战；他们就在玛利沙的洗法谷列阵相对。亚撒呼求耶和华他的神说：“耶和华啊，强弱悬殊，除你以外没有别的帮助。耶和华我们的神啊，求你帮助我们。因为我们倚靠你，奉你的名去对抗这大军。耶和华啊，你是我们的神，不要让人胜过你。”于是耶和华在亚撒和犹大人面前，使古实人大败，古实人就逃跑。

那时，先见哈拿尼来见犹大王亚撒，对他说：“因你倚靠亚兰王，没有倚靠耶和华你的神，所以亚兰王的军队才可以脱离你的手。

那时，以色列人被击败了，犹大人获得胜利，因为他们倚靠耶和华他们列祖的神。

耶和华要给受欺压的人作保障，作患难时的避难所。认识你名的人必倚靠你；耶和华啊！你从未撇弃寻求你的人。
