Let them save you when you are in trouble!”But the Israelites said to the Lord,“ We have sinned. Do with us whatever you think best, but please rescue us now.”Then they got rid of the foreign gods among them and served the Lord. And he could bear Israel’s misery no longer. (niv)

Yet he took note of their distress when he heard their cry; (niv)

And Isaiah boldly says,“ I was found by those who did not seek me; I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me.” (niv)

Return, Israel, to the Lord your God. Your sins have been your downfall!Take words with you and return to the Lord. Say to him:“ Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips.Assyria cannot save us; we will not mount warhorses. We will never again say‘ Our gods’ to what our own hands have made, for in you the fatherless find compassion.” (niv)

But when they cried out to the Lord, he raised up for them a deliverer, Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother, who saved them.The Spirit of the Lord came on him, so that he became Israel’s judge and went to war. The Lord gave Cushan-Rishathaim king of Aram into the hands of Othniel, who overpowered him. (niv)
