But a message came to Shemaiah from the Lord. Shemaiah was a man of God. The Lord said to him,

But Yahweh’s word came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,

Now the acts of Rehoboam, from the first to the last, are they not written in the records of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer, according to genealogical enrollment? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

Then Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam and the princes of Judah who had gathered at Jerusalem because of Shishak, and he said to them,“ This is what the Lord says:‘ You have abandoned Me, so I also have abandoned you to Shishak.’ ”So the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said,“ The Lord is righteous.”When the Lord saw that they had humbled themselves, the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah, saying,“ They have humbled themselves, so I will not destroy them; and I will grant them a little deliverance, and My wrath will not be poured out on Jerusalem by means of Shishak.

Now this is the blessing with which Moses the man of God blessed the sons of Israel before his death.

Now according to the ordinance of his father David, he appointed the divisions of the priests for their service, and the Levites for their duties of praise and ministering before the priests according to the daily rule, and the gatekeepers by their divisions at every gate; for this is what David, the man of God, had commanded.

But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.

But the word of God came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,“ Tell Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and the rest of the people, saying,‘ This is what the Lord says:“ You shall not go up nor fight against your relatives the sons of Israel; return, every man to his house, for this thing has come from Me.” ’ ” So they listened to the word of the Lord, and returned to go their way in accordance with the word of the Lord.

Then a man of God came to Eli and said to him,“ This is what the Lord says:‘ Did I not indeed reveal Myself to the house of your father when they were in Egypt in bondage to Pharaoh’s house?
