耶羅波安王就打定了主意，造了兩隻金牛犢，對眾民說：『以色列人哪，你們上耶路撒冷去已經夠了；看哪，這就是你們的神、那領你們從埃及地上來的。』

這事以後、耶羅波安仍然沒有從他的壞行徑上回轉過來；反而把平常範圍內的人立為邱壇的祭司；凡願意的、他都授與聖職，使他做邱壇的祭司。

他們獻祭給鬼魔、並不是真神，乃是他們素不認識的神，是近來新興的，是你們列祖所不畏懼的。

耶羅波安造了邱壇上的殿，將不屬利未子孫範圍內的平常人立為祭司。

亞倫從他們手裏接過來，用雕刻的器具雕造它，作成一隻鑄像的牛犢；他們就說：『以色列啊，這就是你們的神、那領你們從埃及地上來的！』亞倫看見，就在牛犢面前築了一座祭壇；又宣告說：明天要過節來事奉永恆主。第二天、他們清早起來，就獻上燔祭，帶平安祭上前去；人民又坐下去喫喝，起來嬉戲作樂。永恆主吩咐摩西說：『你下去吧；因為你的眾民、你從埃及地領上來的、已經敗壞了。他們很快地就偏離了我所吩咐他們走的道路，而為自己造了一隻鑄像的牛犢，去敬拜它，向它獻祭說：『以色列啊，這就是你們的神、那領你們從埃及地上來的！」』

於是摩西回到永恆主那裏說：『唉，這人民真地犯了大罪，為自己造了金神像。

如今呢、他們罪越犯越多了，他們為自己造了鑄像，按自己的技巧聰明用他們的銀子造偶像，都是匠人的作品；就說：『向這些偶像獻祭吧！』嘿，人跟牛犢親嘴！

但聖靈明說、在末後的時期、必有人離棄信仰，意向着謬妄的靈、和鬼魔的教條。

他們在何烈山造了牛犢，敬拜了鑄像。用喫草的牛的模形去代換上帝的榮耀。

他們是能行神迹的鬼魔之靈、出來到普天下列王各地、要召集他們去赴全能者上帝之大日子的戰爭的。（

撒瑪利亞啊，我屏棄了你的牛犢；我向撒瑪利亞人發怒。以色列人到幾時才能無辜免罰呢？那牛犢像是匠人造的，並不是神。撒瑪利亞的牛犢像必定成了碎片。

你竟作壞事比那在你以先的更壞，去為自己立了別的神和鑄像、來惹我發怒，將我丟在背後。

我乃是說外國人所祭獻的、是祭獻給鬼，不是獻與上帝。我不願意你們成了有分於鬼的人。你們不能喝主的杯，又喝鬼的杯；不能分享主的筵席，又分享鬼的筵席啊。
