Then God said to Solomon:“ Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches or wealth or honor or the life of your enemies, nor have you asked long life— but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge My people over whom I have made you king—

神对所罗门说：“我已立你作我民的王。你既有这心意，并不求资财、丰富、尊荣，也不求灭绝那恨你之人的性命，又不求大寿数，只求智慧聪明好判断我的民；

上帝对所罗门说：“你有这心意，不求资财、丰富、尊荣，也不求灭绝恨你之人的性命，又不求长寿；我既立你作我百姓的王，你只求智慧聪明，好审判我的百姓，

神对所罗门说：“你有这心意，不求资财、丰富、尊荣，也不求灭绝恨你之人的性命，又不求长寿；我既立你作我百姓的王，你只求智慧聪明，好审判我的百姓，

上帝对所罗门说：“你既然有此心愿，不为自己求富贵、资财、尊荣、长寿，也没有求灭绝你的敌人，只求智慧和知识以治理我的子民——我交在你王权之下的百姓，

神对所罗门说：“你既然有这个心意：不求富足、财产、尊荣，也不求你敌人的性命，又不求长寿，只为自己求智慧和知识，好治理我的子民，就是我立你作王统治的人民，

上帝對所羅門說：『你心裏既有這個意思：你不祈求財富、資產、尊榮，也不求滅恨你的人的性命，連長壽你也不祈求，只祈求智慧學識，好判斷我的人民、就是我立你作王來管理的；

上帝諭所羅門曰、我立爾為我民之王、爾有此心、不求資財、富有、尊榮、壽考、亦不求滅敵之命、惟求聰明智慧、能聽我民之訟、

上帝告所羅門曰、我立汝為王、以臨民、乃爾心不求財貨、尊榮、遐齡、勝敵、惟求智慧聰明、能聽民之訟、

天主諭所羅門曰、我立爾為我民之王、爾乃有此心、爾不求貨財、產業、尊榮、滅敵命、亦不求長壽、惟求智慧聰明、能判斷於民中、

God said to Solomon,“ Since this is your heart’s desire and you have not asked for wealth, possessions or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king,

God said to Solomon,“ I am glad that those are the things you really want. You have not asked for wealth, possessions or honor. You have not even asked to have your enemies killed. You have not asked to live for a long time. Instead, you have asked for wisdom and knowledge. You want to be able to rule my people wisely. I have made you king over them.

God answered Solomon,“ Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked for possessions, wealth, honor, or the life of those who hate you, and have not even asked for long life, but have asked for wisdom and knowledge for yourself that you may govern my people over whom I have made you king,

God said to Solomon,“ Because your greatest desire is to help your people, and you did not ask for wealth, riches, fame, or even the death of your enemies or a long life, but rather you asked for wisdom and knowledge to properly govern my people—

God said to Solomon,“ Since this was in your heart, and you have not requested riches, wealth, or glory, or for the life of those who hate you, and you have not even requested long life, but you have requested for yourself wisdom and knowledge that you may judge my people over whom I have made you king,

Then God said to Solomon,“ Because this was in your heart, and you did not ask for riches, wealth, or honor, or the life of those who hate you, nor did you even ask for long life, but you asked for yourself wisdom and knowledge so that you may rule My people over whom I have made you king,

And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honor, nor the life of them that hate thee, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

God said to Solomon,“ Since this was in your heart, and you have not requested riches, wealth, or glory, or for the life of those who hate you, and you have not even requested long life, but you have requested for yourself wisdom and knowledge that you may judge My people over whom I have made you king,

And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

God said to Solomon,“ Because you desire this, and did not ask for riches, wealth, and honor, or for vengeance on your enemies, and because you did not ask for long life, but requested wisdom and discernment so you can make judicial decisions for my people over whom I have made you king,

God said to Solomon,“ Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches, wealth, honor, or the life of those who hate you, nor yet have you asked for long life; but have asked for wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge my people, over whom I have made you king,

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.“ Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you.

But the Lord said to my father David,‘ Whereas it was in your heart to build a temple for My name, you did well that it was in your heart.

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.

Then King David rose to his feet and said,“ Hear me, my brethren and my people: I had it in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and for the footstool of our God, and had made preparations to build it.

The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way, But the folly of fools is deceit.

I know also, my God, that You test the heart and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things; and now with joy I have seen Your people, who are present here to offer willingly to You.O Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the intent of the thoughts of the heart of Your people, and fix their heart toward You.

But the Lord said to Samuel,“ Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”

And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had rendered; and they feared the king, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him to administer justice.

Then God said to him:“ Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice,behold, I have done according to your words; see, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor shall any like you arise after you.And I have also given you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there shall not be anyone like you among the kings all your days.
