Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

People who want to get rich are tempted. They fall into a trap. They are tripped up by wanting many foolish and harmful things. Those who live like that are dragged down by what they do. They are destroyed and die.

But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

毋戀世俗世物；人若戀世、安得有愛慕天父之情、存乎其心。蓋世間所有、不外物欲聲色、榮華富貴。凡此皆非本乎天父、乃本乎人世。而人世及其所貪圖者、皆暫而不久、俯仰之間、已為陳跡。惟有遵行天主聖意之人、可大可久、永古長存。

哀哉此輩、既追踵該因、步其後塵；且以利忘身、而流入巴賴之歧途；又不惜與可拉並肩作亂、而自取滅亡也。

棄絕故我、不復沉湎聲色、日趨朽壞。

伯鐸祿曰：『願爾與金偕亡！爾思以金錢易取天主之恩賜乎？

內有世俗之憂慮、貨利之迷惑、嗜欲之萌動、相與交攻於中、而壅塞其道、宜其不實也；

改過遷善、自拔於妖魔之羅網、而脫其拘係。

少年聞言、悵然而歸、以其擁有巨資耳。

田未鬻、非爾之所有乎？鬻而得銀、又非爾之所屬乎？今爾心懷譎詐、是誠何為？爾非欺人、直欺天主耳！』亞拿尼亞聞言、仆地而絕、聞者悚然，

若輩捨棄正道、流入歧途、與包掃兒之子巴拉盎實屬一路之人。彼巴拉盎者、貪戀不義之財、因過見懲、曾有驢作人聲斥責先知之狂妄焉。

「予如以耶穌獻爾、將何以為酬？」彼輩乃授以銀三十兩。

舉世生靈、無得而逃焉。

斯時、鬻主之茹答斯、見耶穌死案既決、悔之；乃以銀三十兩、返之司祭長及耆老曰：『予賣無辜之血、獲罪實深。』若輩對曰：『此爾之事、與我何涉？』茹答斯乃投銀殿中而退、出而自縊死。

應知律法之設、非為善人、乃為不法、橫行、無道、作惡、喪德、敗行、忤逆、不孝、殺人、

斯輩貪污成性、巧言如簧、以爾等為營利之具。若而人者、罪案夙定。天網恢恢、固無所逃於天地間也。

咄咄富人、爾其休矣、災禍將臨爾身、爾盍哀號痛哭乎！爾之財帛朽矣、爾之衣服蝕矣、爾之金銀銹矣。金銀之銹、將為爾罪之鐵證、而成爾體之烙印。哀哉、爾平生所積之寶、適足以為末日積怒耳。工人為爾收穫莊稼、爾竟欺之、而不予工資。此所欠之工資、亦將為工人鳴冤、且其聲已上達萬軍主宰之耳矣。

賢良蒙鍛鍊。所以玉其成。惟彼兇與暴。乃為主所憎。
