不过弟兄们，你们不是在黑暗里，以致那日子像贼一样抓住你们。

惟我兄弟。既不處黑暗之中、屆時當不致襲爾如不速之客。

But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.

Brothers and sisters, you are not in darkness. So that day should not surprise you as a thief would.

But you aren’t in the dark about these things, dear brothers and sisters, and you won’t be surprised when the day of the Lord comes like a thief.

不过，主的日子要来临，就像贼来临那样。在那日，诸天要轰然一声地消逝，天体将被火焚烧而废除，地和地上的作为也都将被暴露出来。

他救我们脱离了黑暗的权势，把我们迁入他爱子的国度；

再者，你们已经看见了这个时代，是你们早应该从沉睡中醒过来的时候，因为比我们初信的时候，我们的救恩现在更近了。黑夜已深，白昼近了。所以，我们要脱去黑暗的行为，配上光明的兵器。我们要行事端正，好像在白昼中那样：不可荒宴、醉酒；不可淫乱、好色；不可纷争、嫉妒。

所以你应当记住你所领受、所听见的是什么；你应当持守，应当悔改。如果你不警醒，我就要来临，就像贼来临那样；而你绝不会知道我什么时候临到你。

但你们属于蒙拣选的族类、君王的祭司体系、圣洁的国度，是属神的子民；为要使你们宣扬曾召唤你们的那一位的美德——他召唤你们出黑暗，入他奇妙的光明。你们从前不是子民，但如今却是神的子民；从前没有蒙怜悯，但如今却蒙了怜悯。

为了开启他们的眼睛，使他们从黑暗归向光明，从撒旦的权势下归向神，使他们因着信我，罪得赦免，并且与那些被分别为圣的人同得继业。’
