As you know, we treated each one of you as a father treats his own children,

你们也晓得，我们怎样劝勉你们，安慰你们，嘱咐你们各人，好像父亲待自己的儿女一样，

正如你们知道，我们待你们好像父亲待自己的儿女一样。

正如你们知道的，我们是怎样好像父亲对待儿女一样对待你们各人：

正如你们知道我们怎样待你们每一个人，就像父亲待自己的儿女那样；

你們也曉得，我們怎樣勸勉你們，安慰你們，囑咐你們各人，好像父親待自己的兒女一樣，

你們也知道、我們怎樣待你們每一個人，就像父親待自己的兒女一般：既勸勉着你們，又撫慰又誓求着你們，

正如你們知道我們怎樣待你們每一個人，就像父親待自己的兒女那樣；

爾亦知我儕如何視爾各人、猶父之於子、勸勉、安慰、指證、

爾知我勸慰、丁寧爾眾、猶父之勵厥子、

爾亦知我儕勤勉安慰爾中各人、如父於子然、

蓋爾等固知我等待爾人人、一如為父者之待其子、獎掖慰勉、耳提面命、

For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children,

You know that we treated each of you as a father treats his own children.

For you know how, like a father with his children,

And you know that we treated each of you as a father treats his own children.

As you know, like a father with his own children,

just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging and imploring each one of you as a father would his own children,

as you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a father does his own children,

as ye know how we dealt with each one of you, as a father with his own children, exhorting you, and encouraging you, and testifying,

As you know, like a father with his own children,

As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father[ doth] his children,

As you know, we exhorted, comforted, and implored every one of you, as a father does his own children,

I am not writing these things to shame you, but to correct you as my dear children.For though you may have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, because I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

Before God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, I solemnly charge you to carry out these commands without prejudice or favoritism of any kind.

Finally then, brothers and sisters, we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received instruction from us about how you must live and please God( as you are in fact living) that you do so more and more.

I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who is going to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom:Preach the message, be ready whether it is convenient or not, reprove, rebuke, exhort with complete patience and instruction.

although we could have imposed our weight as apostles of Christ; instead we became little children among you. Like a nursing mother caring for her own children,

“ And you, Solomon my son, obey the God of your father and serve him with a submissive attitude and a willing spirit, for the LORD examines all minds and understands every motive of one’s thoughts. If you seek him, he will let you find him, but if you abandon him, he will reject you permanently.

Command those who are rich in this world’s goods not to be haughty or to set their hope on riches, which are uncertain, but on God who richly provides us with all things for our enjoyment.

Come children! Listen to me! I will teach you what it means to fear the LORD.

set him before Eleazar the priest and before the whole community, and commission him publicly.

Then the LORD said to Moses,“ The day of your death is near. Summon Joshua and present yourselves in the tent of meeting so that I can commission him.” So Moses and Joshua presented themselves in the tent of meeting.

David said to his son Solomon:“ Be strong and brave! Do it! Don’t be afraid and don’t panic! For the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not leave you or abandon you before all the work for the service of the LORD’s temple is finished.

Listen, children, to a father’s instruction, and pay attention so that you may gain discernment.Because I give you good instruction, do not forsake my teaching.When I was a son to my father, a tender only child before my mother,he taught me, and he said to me:“ Let your heart lay hold of my words; keep my commands so that you will live.Acquire wisdom, acquire understanding; do not forget and do not turn aside from the words I speak.Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will guard you.Wisdom is supreme– so acquire wisdom, and whatever you acquire, acquire understanding!Esteem her highly and she will exalt you; she will honor you if you embrace her.She will place a fair garland on your head; she will bestow a beautiful crown on you.”Listen, my child, and accept my words, so that the years of your life will be many.I will guide you in the way of wisdom and I will lead you in upright paths.When you walk, your steps will not be hampered, and when you run, you will not stumble.

The words of King Lemuel, an oracle that his mother taught him:O my son, O son of my womb, O son of my vows,Do not give your strength to women, nor your ways to that which ruins kings.It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, or for rulers to crave strong drink,lest they drink and forget what is decreed, and remove from all the poor their legal rights.Give strong drink to the one who is perishing, and wine to those who are bitterly distressed;let them drink and forget their poverty, and remember their misery no more.Open your mouth on behalf of those unable to speak, for the legal rights of all the dying.Open your mouth, judge in righteousness, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, just as you are in fact doing.

So now, sons, listen to me, and pay attention to the words I speak.

I charge you before God who gives life to all things and Christ Jesus who made his good confession before Pontius Pilate,

My child, do not go down their way, withhold yourself from their path;

Encourage younger men likewise to be self- controlled,

So they sent word to Joseph, saying,“ Your father gave these instructions before he died:‘ Tell Joseph this: Please forgive the sin of your brothers and the wrong they did when they treated you so badly.’ Now please forgive the sin of the servants of the God of your father.” When this message was reported to him, Joseph wept.

Now such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to work quietly and so provide their own food to eat.

Commission Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, because he will lead these people over and will enable them to inherit the land you will see.”

But those who have believing masters must not show them less respect because they are brothers. Instead they are to serve all the more, because those who benefit from their service are believers and dearly loved. Teach them and exhort them about these things.

So I say this, and insist in the Lord, that you no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.

“ Now, my son, may the LORD be with you! May you succeed and build a temple for the LORD your God, just as he announced you would.Only may the LORD give you insight and understanding when he places you in charge of Israel, so you may obey the law of the LORD your God.Then you will succeed, if you carefully obey the rules and regulations which the LORD ordered Moses to give to Israel. Be strong and brave! Don’t be afraid and don’t panic!

My child, if you receive my words, and store up my commands within you,

My child, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments,

Reinforce these commands, so that they will be beyond reproach.

My child, keep my words and treasure up my commands in your own keeping.

Slaves are to be subject to their own masters in everything, to do what is wanted and not talk back,

My child, if you have made a pledge for your neighbor, and have become a guarantor for a stranger,

My child, if sinners try to entice you, do not consent!

My child, be attentive to my wisdom, pay close attention to my understanding,in order to safeguard discretion, and that your lips may guard knowledge.

After he had gone through those regions and spoken many words of encouragement to the believers there, he came to Greece,

Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, bear with my message of exhortation, for in fact I have written to you briefly.

So communicate these things with the sort of exhortation or rebuke that carries full authority. Don’t let anyone look down on you.
