而約拿單沒有聽見他父親讓軍兵起誓，所以他伸出手裡的杖，把杖尖蘸在有蜜的蜂巢裡，然後用手取蜜放入嘴裡，眼睛就明亮了。

說：「大人，我們想起當那個迷惑人的還活著時曾經說過：『在第三天我要復活。』

大衛問他：「你屬於誰？你從哪裡來？」他回答：「我是個埃及少年，是亞瑪力人的奴僕。因為我三天前患了病，我主人撇棄了我。

「你當去，把所有在蘇薩中的猶太人都聚集起來，為我禁食，三天三夜不吃不喝；我和我的使女們也會如此禁食。然後我就去見王，雖然這樣不符合法令；我如果因此滅亡，就滅亡吧！」

耶和華指派了一條大魚吞掉約拿；約拿在那魚的肚腹中三天三夜。

疲乏的，他賜力量；無力的，他加能力。少年人也會疲倦困乏，青年人也會全然絆倒，但那些等候耶和華的，必重新得力；他們必如鷹展翅上騰，他們奔跑不會困乏，行走也不會疲倦。
