Samuel was lying down in the Lord’ s house. That’s where the ark of God was kept. The lamp of God was still burning.

The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was.

“ Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light so that the lamps may be kept burning continually.Outside the curtain that shields the ark of the covenant law in the tent of meeting, Aaron is to tend the lamps before the Lord from evening till morning, continually. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come.The lamps on the pure gold lampstand before the Lord must be tended continually.

“ Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light so that the lamps may be kept burning.In the tent of meeting, outside the curtain that shields the ark of the covenant law, Aaron and his sons are to keep the lamps burning before the Lord from evening till morning. This is to be a lasting ordinance among the Israelites for the generations to come.

But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple.

One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.

The voice of the Lord twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. And in his temple all cry,“ Glory!”

Because the Lord had closed Hannah’s womb, her rival kept provoking her in order to irritate her.

“ Aaron must burn fragrant incense on the altar every morning when he tends the lamps.He must burn incense again when he lights the lamps at twilight so incense will burn regularly before the Lord for the generations to come.

Every morning and evening they present burnt offerings and fragrant incense to the Lord. They set out the bread on the ceremonially clean table and light the lamps on the gold lampstand every evening. We are observing the requirements of the Lord our God. But you have forsaken him.
