西弗人動身，在掃羅以先往西弗去。大衛和他的人卻在瑪雲曠野，在荒野南邊的亞拉巴。

有人告訴她瑪說：「看哪，你的公公上亭拿剪羊毛去了。」

又有瑪雲、迦密、西弗、淤他、

「有一個財主穿着紫色袍和細麻布衣服，天天奢華宴樂。又有一個討飯的，名叫拉撒路，渾身長瘡，被人放在財主門口，想得財主桌子上掉下來的碎食充飢，甚至還有狗來舔他的瘡。後來那討飯的死了，被天使帶去放在亞伯拉罕的懷裏。財主也死了，並且埋葬了。他在陰間受苦，舉目遠遠地望見亞伯拉罕，又望見拉撒路在他懷裏，他就喊着說：『我祖亞伯拉罕哪，可憐我吧！請打發拉撒路來，用指頭尖蘸點水，涼涼我的舌頭，因為我在這火焰裏，極其痛苦。』亞伯拉罕說：『孩子啊，你該回想你生前享過福，拉撒路也同樣受過苦，如今他在這裏得安慰，你卻受痛苦。

因為我嫉妒狂傲的人，我看見惡人享平安。他們的力氣強壯，他們死的時候也沒有疼痛。他們不像別人受苦，也不像別人遭災。所以，驕傲如鏈子戴在他們項上，殘暴像衣裳覆蓋在他們身上。他們的眼睛因體胖而凸出，他們的內心放任不羈。

亞伯蘭的牲畜和金銀極多。

耶和華啊，求你用手救我脫離世人，脫離那只在今生有福分的世人！你以財寶充滿他們的肚腹，他們因有兒女就滿足，將其餘的財物留給他們的孩子。

大衛的兩個妻子，耶斯列人亞希暖和作過拿八妻子的迦密人亞比該，也被擄去了。

這樣，耶和華後來賜福給約伯比先前更多。他有一萬四千隻羊，六千匹駱駝，一千對牛，一千匹母驢。

過了二年，有人在靠近以法蓮的巴力‧夏瑣為押沙龍剪羊毛。押沙龍請了王所有的兒子來。押沙龍來到王那裏，說：「看哪，有人正為你的僕人剪羊毛，請王和王的臣僕與你的僕人同去。」

他就發達，日漸昌盛，成了大富翁。

他的家產有七千隻羊，三千匹駱駝，五百對牛，五百匹母驢，並有許多僕婢。這人在東方人中為至大。

巴西萊年紀老邁，已經八十歲了。王住在瑪哈念的時候，他拿食物來供給王，因他是個大富翁。
