西弗人就起身，在掃羅以先往西弗去。大衛和跟隨的人卻在瑪雲的曠野、荒野南邊的亞拉巴。

『有一個財主素常穿着紫色袍和細麻布衣服，天天奢華宴樂。又有一個討飯的名叫拉撒路，躺在他的大門口，生着瘡；巴不得從財主桌子上掉下來的東西以得喫飽。不但如此，連狗還來餂他的瘡呢！那討飯的死了；他被天使帶走，到亞伯拉罕懷裏。那財主也死了，並且埋葬了。他在陰間、一直在痛苦中；一舉目竟望見亞伯拉罕在遠處，拉撒路在亞伯拉罕懷裏呢。他就呼喊說：「我祖亞伯拉罕哪，憐恤我吧！打發拉撒路用指頭尖兒蘸水涼涼我的舌頭吧；因為我在這火焰中、極其慘苦啊。」亞伯拉罕說：「孩子，你該回想你一生受盡了你的美物，而拉撒路也照樣受盡了禍患；如今他在這裏得慰藉，你倒受慘苦了！

因為我見惡人平安興旺，我對狂傲之人就生了嫉妒。因為他們都沒有疼痛；他們的身體又健全又肥胖。他們不在一般人之中受苦難，也不和普通人同遭災害。因此驕傲就做了他們的脖鍊兒；強暴的外披也遮住他們。他們的罪孽因體胖而生出；他們心裏所狂想的橫流瀰漫。

亞伯蘭有牲畜金銀極多。

永恆主啊，伸手救我脫離這些人，脫離今世之人，其業分只在今生的。你把你的藏寶充滿他們的肚腹；他們因有兒女而心滿意足；便將餘剩的財物留給他們的嬰孩。

大衛的兩個妻子、耶斯列人亞希暖、和那作過迦密人拿八妻子的亞比該、也被擄了去。

這樣、永恆主賜福與約伯的晚年就勝過他起初的：他有羊一萬四千隻，駱駝六千隻，牛一千對，母驢一千匹。

過了兩年工夫、在靠近以法蓮的巴力夏瑣有剪羊毛的人為押沙龍剪羊毛；押沙龍請王的眾子都到那裏。押沙龍來見王說：『看哪，現在有剪羊毛的人為僕人剪羊毛；請王和王的臣僕跟僕人一同去。』

他就昌大，越來越大，直到成了極大的財主。

他的牲畜有羊七千隻、駱駝三千隻，牛五百對、母驢五百匹；他還有很多僕婢；這人在東方人之中至為昌大。

巴西萊非常老邁，已經八十歲。王住在瑪哈念的時候，是他供養王的：因為他是個極大的財主。
