David said to his men,“ Each of you strap on your sword!” So they did, and David strapped his on as well. About four hundred men went up with David, while two hundred stayed with the supplies.

David said to his men,“ Each of you put on your swords!” So they did. David put his sword on too. About 400 men went up with David. Two hundred men stayed behind with the supplies.

And David said to his men,“ Every man strap on his sword!” And every man of them strapped on his sword. David also strapped on his sword. And about four hundred men went up after David, while two hundred remained with the baggage.

“ Get your swords!” was David’s reply as he strapped on his own. Then 400 men started off with David, and 200 remained behind to guard their equipment.

He said to his men,“ All of you, put on your swords!” So each man put on his sword, and David also put on his sword. About four hundred men followed David while two hundred stayed with the supplies.

And David said unto his men, Gird ye on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and David also girded on his sword: and there went up after David about four hundred men; and two hundred abode by the baggage.

大衛和跟隨他的約有六百人，就起身出了基伊拉，往他們所能往的地方去。有人告訴掃羅，大衛離開基伊拉逃走；於是掃羅不出來了。

心無知識的，乃為不善；腳步急快的，難免犯罪。

人有見識就不輕易發怒；寬恕人的過失便是自己的榮耀。

以色列人受了他們些食物，並沒有求問耶和華。

隨後大衛心中自責，因為割下掃羅的衣襟；對跟隨他的人說：「我的主乃是耶和華的受膏者，我在耶和華面前萬不敢伸手害他，因他是耶和華的受膏者。」

不輕易發怒的，勝過勇士；治服己心的，強如取城。

親愛的弟兄，不要自己伸冤，寧可讓步，聽憑主怒；因為經上記着：「主說：『伸冤在我，我必報應。』」所以，「你的仇敵若餓了，就給他吃，若渴了，就給他喝；因為你這樣行就是把炭火堆在他的頭上。」你不可為惡所勝，反要以善勝惡。

不輕易發怒的，大有聰明；性情暴躁的，大顯愚妄。

不要冒失出去與人爭競，免得至終被他羞辱，你就不知道怎樣行了。

我親愛的弟兄們，這是你們所知道的。但你們各人要快快地聽，慢慢地說，慢慢地動怒，因為人的怒氣並不成就神的義。

大衛到了那疲乏不能跟隨、留在比梭溪的二百人那裏。他們出來迎接大衛並跟隨的人。大衛前來問他們安。跟隨大衛人中的惡人和匪類說：「這些人既然沒有和我們同去，我們所奪的財物就不分給他們，只將他們各人的妻子兒女給他們，使他們帶去就是了。」大衛說：「弟兄們，耶和華所賜給我們的，不可不分給他們；因為他保佑我們，將那攻擊我們的敵軍交在我們手裏。這事誰肯依從你們呢？上陣的得多少，看守器具的也得多少；應當大家平分。」

於是，大衛和跟隨他的六百人來到比梭溪；有不能前去的就留在那裏。大衛卻帶着四百人往前追趕，有二百人疲乏，不能過比梭溪，所以留在那裏。
