Doeg was standing with Saul’s officials. He was from Edom. He said,“ I saw Jesse’s son David come to Ahimelek at Nob. Ahimelek is the son of Ahitub.

Then answered Doeg the Edomite, who stood by the servants of Saul,“ I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub,

Then Doeg the Edomite, who was standing there with Saul’s men, spoke up.“ When I was at Nob,” he said,“ I saw the son of Jesse talking to the priest, Ahimelech son of Ahitub.

Then Doeg the Edomite, who was in charge of Saul’s servants, answered,“ I saw Jesse’s son come to Ahimelech son of Ahitub at Nob.

Then answered Doeg the Edomite, who was set over the servants of Saul, and said,“ I saw the son of Jesse going to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.

But Doeg the Edomite, who had stationed himself with the servants of Saul, replied,“ I saw this son of Jesse come to Ahimelech son of Ahitub at Nob.

Then Doeg the Edomite, who stood by the servants of Saul, answered and said,“ I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.

For I brought neither my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s matter was urgent.”Then the priest said,“ The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, behold, it is wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod; if you would take it for yourself, take it. For there is no other except it here.” And David said,“ There is none like it; give it to me.”Then David set out and fled that day from Saul, and went to Achish king of Gath.But the servants of Achish said to him,“ Is this not David, the king of the land? Did they not sing of this one as they danced, saying,‘ Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands’?”David took these words to heart and greatly feared Achish king of Gath.So he disguised his sanity while in their sight and acted insanely in their custody, and he scribbled on the doors of the gate, and drooled on his beard.Then Achish said to his servants,“ Look, you see the man is behaving like an insane person. Why do you bring him to me?Do I lack insane people, that you have brought this one to behave like an insane person in my presence? Shall this one come into my house?”

If a ruler pays attention to falsehood, All his ministers become wicked.

Slanderous men have been among you for the purpose of shedding blood, and among you they have eaten at the mountain shrines. In your midst they have committed outrageous sin.

A false witness will not go unpunished, And one who declares lies will not escape.

Now the chief priests and the entire Council kept trying to obtain false testimony against Jesus, so that they might put Him to death.They did not find any, even though many false witnesses came forward. But later on two came forward,and said,“ This man stated,‘ I am able to destroy the temple of God and to rebuild it in three days.’ ”
