Saul said to them,“ Men of Benjamin, listen to me! Do you think Jesse’s son will give all of you fields and vineyards? Do you think he’ll make some of you commanders of thousands of men? Do you think he’ll make the rest of you commanders of hundreds?

就对左右侍立的臣仆说：“便雅悯人哪，你们要听我的话！耶西的儿子能将田地和葡萄园赐给你们各人吗？能立你们各人作千夫长百夫长吗？

扫罗对左右侍立的臣仆说：“便雅悯人哪，听着！耶西的儿子也能把田地和葡萄园赐给你们各人吗？他能立你们各人作千夫长和百夫长吗？

扫罗对左右侍立的臣仆说：“便雅悯人哪，听着！耶西的儿子也能把田地和葡萄园赐给你们各人吗？他能立你们各人作千夫长和百夫长吗？

就对左右的臣仆说：“便雅悯人啊，你们听着！难道耶西的儿子会给你们田地和葡萄园吗？他能立你们做千夫长和百夫长吗？

扫罗就对侍立在他周围的臣仆说：“便雅悯人哪，你们要听！耶西的儿子能把田地和葡萄园赐给你们各人吗？他能立你们各人作千夫长、作百夫长吗？

扫罗对身旁侍立的臣仆说：“本雅明子孙哪，你们听着：耶西的儿子也能把田地和葡萄园赐给你们各人吗？他能设立你们各人作千夫长、百夫长吗？

就對左右侍立的臣僕說：「便雅憫人哪，你們要聽我的話！耶西的兒子能將田地和葡萄園賜給你們各人嗎？能立你們各人作千夫長百夫長嗎？

掃羅對左右侍立的臣僕說：「便雅憫人哪，聽着！耶西的兒子也能把田地和葡萄園賜給你們各人嗎？他能立你們各人作千夫長和百夫長嗎？

掃羅對左右侍立的臣僕說：「便雅憫人哪，聽着！耶西的兒子也能把田地和葡萄園賜給你們各人嗎？他能立你們各人作千夫長和百夫長嗎？

就對左右的臣僕說：「便雅憫人啊，你們聽著！難道耶西的兒子會給你們田地和葡萄園嗎？他能立你們做千夫長和百夫長嗎？

掃羅就對侍立在他周圍的臣僕說：“便雅憫人哪，你們要聽！耶西的兒子能把田地和葡萄園賜給你們各人嗎？他能立你們各人作千夫長、作百夫長嗎？

掃羅就對左右侍立的臣僕說：『便雅憫人哪，你們聽吧！耶西的兒子不但要將田地和葡萄園賜給你們各人！也要立你們各人做千夫長或百夫長呢！

掃羅對身旁侍立的臣僕說：「便雅憫子孫哪，你們聽著：耶西的兒子也能把田地和葡萄園賜給你們各人嗎？他能設立你們各人作千夫長、百夫長嗎？

掃羅謂之曰、便雅憫人、爾其聽之、耶西之子、豈以田畝葡萄園賜爾、立為千夫長、百夫長、

謂臣僕曰、便雅憫族宜聽我言、耶西之子、豈能以田畝葡萄園賜爾眾、以爾儕為千夫長、百夫長乎。

謂侍側之臣僕曰、便雅憫人、須聽我言、耶西子將以田畝葡萄園給爾眾乎、將立爾眾為千夫長百夫長乎、

He said to them,“ Listen, men of Benjamin! Will the son of Jesse give all of you fields and vineyards? Will he make all of you commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds?

And Saul said to his servants who stood about him,“ Hear now, people of Benjamin; will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards, will he make you all commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds,

“ Listen here, you men of Benjamin!” Saul shouted to his officers when he heard the news.“ Has that son of Jesse promised every one of you fields and vineyards? Has he promised to make you all generals and captains in his army?

Saul said to his servants,“ Listen, men of Benjamin: Is Jesse’s son going to give all of you fields and vineyards? Do you think he’ll make all of you commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds?

Saul said to his servants who were standing in front of him,“ Hear now, you Benjaminites! Will the son of Jesse really give all of you fields and vineyards? Will he make you all commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds?

then Saul said to his servants who stood about him,“ Hear now, you Benjamites! Will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards, and make you all captains of thousands and captains of hundreds?

And Saul said unto his servants that stood about him, Hear now, ye Benjamites; will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards, will he make you all captains of thousands and captains of hundreds,

Saul said to his servants,“ Listen, men of Benjamin: Is Jesse’s son going to give all of you fields and vineyards? Do you think he’ll make all of you commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds?

Then Saul said unto his servants that stood about him, Hear now, ye Benjamites; will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards,[ and] make you all captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds;

Saul said to his servants who were stationed around him,“ Listen up, you Benjaminites! Is Jesse’s son giving fields and vineyards to all of you? Or is he making all of you commanders and officers?

Saul said to his servants who stood around him,“ Hear now, you Benjamites! Will the son of Jesse give everyone of you fields and vineyards? Will he make you all captains of thousands and captains of hundreds,

All the Israelites saw that the king refused to listen to them. So they answered the king. They said,“ We don’t have any share in David’s royal family. We don’t have any share in Jesse’s son. People of Israel, let’s go back to our homes. David’s royal family, take care of your own kingdom!” So the Israelites went home.

But the next day, David’s place was empty again. It was the second day of the month. Finally, Saul spoke to his son Jonathan. He said,“ Why hasn’t the son of Jesse come to the meal? He hasn’t been here yesterday or today.”

Doeg was standing with Saul’s officials. He was from Edom. He said,“ I saw Jesse’s son David come to Ahimelek at Nob. Ahimelek is the son of Ahitub.

In everything he did, he was very successful. That’s because the Lord was with him.

An evil man who always stirred up trouble happened to be in Gilgal. His name was Sheba, the son of Bikri. Sheba was from the tribe of Benjamin. He blew his trumpet. Then he shouted,“ We don’t have any share in David’s kingdom! Jesse’s son is not our king! Men of Israel, every one of you go back home!”

Nabal answered David’s servants,“ Who is this David? Who is this son of Jesse? Many servants are running away from their masters these days.

Jesse’s family is like a tree that has been cut down. A new little tree will grow from its stump. From its roots a Branch will grow and produce fruit.

Saul became very angry with Jonathan. He said to him,“ You are an evil son. You have refused to obey me. I know that you are on the side of Jesse’s son. You should be ashamed of that. And your mother should be ashamed of having a son like you.

At that time, here is what the man who is called the Root of Jesse will do. He will be like a banner that brings nations together. They will come to him. And the place where he rules will be glorious.

He will take away your best fields and vineyards and olive groves. He’ll give them to his attendants.He will take a tenth of your grain and a tenth of your grapes. He’ll give it to his officials and attendants.

Samuel told them,“ Here’s what the king who rules over you will expect to be done for him. He will take your sons. He’ll make them serve with his chariots and horses. They will run in front of his chariots.He’ll choose some of your sons to be commanders of thousands of men. Some will be commanders of fifties. Others will have to plow his fields and gather his crops. Still others will have to make weapons of war and parts for his chariots.

Saul said to him,“ Why have you and Jesse’s son joined together against me? Why did you give him bread and a sword? Why did you ask God a question for him? Now he has turned against me. He is hiding and waiting to attack me right now.”
