但是我說：『像我這樣的人能逃跑麼？像我這樣的人能進殿堂去保全性命麼？我不進去。』

永恆主告訴為大衛做先見者的迦得、說：

人在這城裏逼迫你們，你們要逃到別的城。我實在告訴你們，以色列的城市、你們還沒走完，人子就到了。

便雅憫人和猶大人之中也有到山寨來歸大衛的。

『凡這人民所叫做陰謀的、你們不要都叫做陰謀；他們所怕的、你們可別怕，可別畏懼。但對萬軍之永恆主呢、你們倒要看為陰謀者，倒要以他為你們所當怕、所當畏懼的。他對以色列兩家必做碰腳的石頭，跌人的碞石，對耶路撒冷的居民必做為機檻和網羅。

大衛王始終的事、始末都寫在先見《撒母耳記錄》上、神言人《拿單記錄》上、和見異象者《迦得記錄》上，

有人告訴大衛說：『看哪，非利士人正在攻打基伊拉，搶掠着禾場呢。』大衛就求問永恆主說：『我去擊打這些非利士人、可以不可以？』永恆主對大衛說：『你可以擊打非利士人，拯救基伊拉。』跟從大衛的人對他說：『看哪，我們在猶大地這裏尚且懼怕，何況往基伊拉去攻打非利士人的陣營呢？』於是大衛又求問永恆主。永恆主回答說：『你只管起身、下基伊拉去；我必將非利士人交在你手裏。』大衛和跟從他的人就往基伊拉去、跟非利士人交戰，將他們的牲畜趕走，在他們中間大行擊殺；這樣、大衛就拯救了基伊拉的居民。亞希米勒的兒子亞比亞他逃到基伊拉去見大衛的時候，是手裏拿着「神諭像」下去的。
