一次，三十位勇士中有三位到亚杜兰洞附近的磐石那里见大卫，当时非利士的军队驻扎在利乏音谷。

我向耶和华呼求，我高声向祂求助，我在祂面前倾诉我的苦情，向祂述说我的患难。耶和华啊，我心力交瘁的时候，只有你知道我当走的路。敌人已在我行的路上铺下网罗。看看我左右，无人关心我；我走投无路，无人眷顾我。耶和华啊，我向你呼求，你是我的避难所，在世上你是我的福分。求你垂听我的呼求，因为我身陷绝境。求你救我脱离迫害我的人，因为他们太强大了。求你救我脱离牢笼，好让我赞美你。因为你恩待我，义人必聚集在我周围。

我要常常称颂耶和华，时刻赞美祂。

在旷野、群山、山洞和地穴中漂流不定。他们是世界不配有的！

那日，大卫为了躲避扫罗，逃往迦特王亚吉那里。亚吉的臣仆对亚吉说：“这个大卫不是以色列的王吗？民众跳舞歌唱‘扫罗杀死千千，大卫杀死万万’，歌颂的不是他吗？”大卫听到这些话，担心迦特王亚吉会加害于他，就在他们面前装作疯子，在城门上胡乱涂画，任由唾沫沿着胡子流下来。亚吉对臣仆说：“你们看，这是个疯子，为什么把他带到我这里来？我这里缺少疯子吗？你们怎么可以把这个家伙带到我家里，在我面前疯疯癫癫呢？”

玛利沙的居民啊，我要使征服者到你们那里。以色列的领袖要躲到亚杜兰。

看啊，耶和华离开祂的居所，从天降临，脚踏大地的高处。
