“ The Lord brings death and makes alive; he brings down to the grave and raises up.

“ The Lord causes people to die. He also gives people life. He brings people down to the grave. He also brings people up from death.

The Lord kills and brings to life; he brings down to Sheol and raises up.

When the king of Israel had read the letter, he tore his clothes, and said,“ Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man sends to me to heal a man of his leprosy? But please consider and see how he seeks a quarrel against me.”

He said,“ I called because of my affliction to Yahweh. He answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol I cried. You heard my voice.For you threw me into the depths, in the heart of the seas. The flood was all around me. All your waves and your billows passed over me.I said,‘ I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.’The waters surrounded me, even to the soul. The deep was around me. The weeds were wrapped around my head.I went down to the bottoms of the mountains. The earth barred me in forever: yet have you brought up my life from the pit, Yahweh my God.

For he wounds and binds up. He injures and his hands make whole.

and the Living one. I was dead, and behold, I am alive forever and ever. Amen. I have the keys of Death and of Hades.

“ Come! Let’s return to Yahweh; for he has torn us to pieces, and he will heal us; he has injured us, and he will bind up our wounds.After two days he will revive us. On the third day he will raise us up, and we will live before him.

David swore moreover, and said,“ Your father knows well that I have found favor in your eyes; and he says,‘ Don’t let Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved;’ but truly as Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, there is but a step between me and death.”

God is to us a God of deliverance. To Yahweh, the Lord, belongs escape from death.

Jesus said to her,“ I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies.

Yes, we ourselves have had the sentence of death within ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead,who delivered us out of so great a death, and does deliver; on whom we have set our hope that he will also still deliver us;

For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Most certainly I tell you, the hour comes, and now is, when the dead will hear the Son of God’s voice; and those who hear will live.For as the Father has life in himself, even so he gave to the Son also to have life in himself.He also gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man.Don’t marvel at this, for the hour comes in which all who are in the tombs will hear his voice,and will come out; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life; and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment.

The cords of death surrounded me, the pains of Sheol got a hold of me. I found trouble and sorrow.
