雅各就從比爾-謝巴起程。以色列的兒子們讓他們的父親雅各，以及他們的孩子和妻子坐上了法老送來的車輛。他們還帶上牲畜和在迦南地所積蓄的財物。於是雅各和他所有的子孫都一同來到埃及。這樣，雅各帶著他的兒子、孫子、女兒、孫女，他所有的子孫，一同來到了埃及。

神哪，你在古時，在我們祖先的日子裡所做的事，我們親耳聽見了，我們的祖先也向我們講述過。你親手趕出列國，卻栽培了我們的祖先；你向萬民降災禍，卻使我們的祖先興旺。要知道，他們占有地土不是靠自己的刀劍，他們得拯救不是靠自己的膀臂，而是靠你的右手、你的膀臂和你的容光，因你喜悅他們。

他把列國的地都賜給他們，讓他們繼承了萬民的勞苦所得，
